An Album of Lokis' Adventures

- September 2023 -

Loki the 3 year old German Shepherd has been my favourite doggo to look after so far. He is gentle, friendly and incredibly soft in nature. He is also gorgeous, as you can see, and received compliments by almost every person we passed!

While his parents Cerianne Palmer & Ben Palmer were on a well-deserved holiday in Malta, Loki & I explored a bit of Pembrokeshire together.

We started at Pembroke Castle on our first day together. It was a gorgeous sunny day and a lovely walk around the castle moat. Ducks, other dogs, cyclists and walkers toured the grounds.

Next we ventured in the car to Minwear Woods. This was a fantastic woodland walk where we both got very muddy and admittedly lost (although this is just a sign of a good adventure!).
I had lost the car, with no help from google maps which strangely took us to the wrong place (note to self, use the What Three Words app next time!) but after a lovely lady called Valerie (and her 2 dogs) stopped in their van to help, we were sorted.

I felt we needed sustenance so we visited beautiful Tenby town and went to Fuschia Cafe where Loki is well-known. Not only did he have a doggy ice cream made by a cracking Welsh company - Utterly Mutterly - but a doggacino too! A big thank you to the two ladies in Fuschia who made lots of fuss!

West Angle Bay was next. We didn't complete the full circuit due to my own error and poor sense of direction 😂 but it was still a lovely day. Sunny once again, we saw the big blue sea 🌊 💙 and several boats passed ⛵️. Corn fields to the right, ocean to the left.
Stopped in Wavecrest Cafe for another doggy ice cream to cool off. Thank you to all the staff in Wavecrest who loved Loki very much.

Stackpole Estate was another great day! Parked up in a National Trust car park (which I am now a member of! Long time coming!) And ventured through cow fields to Stackpole Quay. It got particularly hot and humid so after going up to the cliffs viewing Barafundle Bay, we turned back the way we came and went to the Boathouse Cafe (I'm sensing a theme here! 😂☕️).
Once again, lovely staff who let us cool down and gave Loki some cups of ice 🧊 which he enjoyed! Then we set out to see more of the estate, going back over the Eight-Arch Bridge (where, briefly we saw an otter!!) and walking woodland paths along the river. We met loaaads of university biology students who made a fuss of Loki (who went to drink their samples of the river and sniff at their lunches).

We had one chilled day with shorter walks before a great last day walking a part of the Pembrokeshire coast path from Broad Haven South Beach car park along to St Govans Head, St Govans Chapel, The Huntsmans' Leap, and then up through Buckspool to Bosherston to "Ye Olde Worlde Cafe" and back round to the car. Great cliff views, though I was surprised to find the area was a firing range (though not active that day) with signs warning walkers not to touch military debris as "it may explode and kill you". Delightful! And this was a public footpath?! We, and plenty of other walkers were perfectly safe though, roaming all over. This might have been my favourite day as I loved the cliffs and Loki could be cool with the wind.

Lokis' parents had bought me a beautiful souvenir Pembroke Castle mug, coaster & card to say thank you from Loki, which was incredibly sweet.
I loved exploring the area, and can definitely say I will miss Loki greatly. He is a big baby and I really hope I will see him again.

(More photos may be added to this album as I took looaadds!)
