Do you recognise this cat? The cat has been seen around the Downlands Avenue area of Worthing for about four months, and local residents are concerned that it might be lost. Wadars is working with local residents on a plan to scan it for a microchip. It does appear to have a skin condition but nothing serious. If you recognise this cat or know who it might belong to, please do let us know. Meanwhile please do share this post.

Back in March we heard the sad news that long-time Wadars supporter and animal lover, Donna Lewington, who ran the Swanbourne Lodge Tearoom in Arundel, had passed away.
In Donna’s memory the Tearooms are now serving a special cream tea, with £2.50 from each one sold being donated to Wadars.
During the summer the Tearooms are open from 9am to 5pm, seven days a week and whilst booking is not necessary, the Tearooms can be contacted on 01903 884293. If you unable to do that, please consider donating by following this link to the Just Giving page set-up in Donna's memory. https://www.justgiving.com/page/david-grafton-1717849243534?utm_medium=fundraising&utm_content=page%2Fdavid-grafton-1717849243534&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=pfp-share
A huge thank you from Wadars to Donna’s family for their ongoing support.

Young Alfie was adopted in spring of this year and we quickly received this lovely update from his new family:

"He's been with us now nearly two weeks, and Alfie has slept through every night downstairs, with his bed and toys, no grizzlies, no accidents, etc.

Alfie has settled in so well, loves our garden, the local Park and has made new doggie friends. We are soon to start a Puppy/Teenager Course with Alfie to help him with his training.

Alfie has been an absolute joy 😊, we keep pinching ourselves that we have been so lucky to have him."

Our address is Wadars, Hangleton lane, Ferring, BN12 6PP. Alternatively, donations can be left at our drop off points on site which are accessible 24/7.

Thank you for anything you are able to provide for this cat. ❤️❤️

Meet our team!⭐️

Wadars operates with a fairly small team of paid staff, supported by more than 100 amazing volunteers, and over the coming weeks we thought you might like to ‘meet’ some of the people who carry out our work with companion animals and wildlife.

Bunny (pictured here with the lovely Dobby, who is currently looking for his forever home) is our administrator.

Bunny joined the Wadars team in 2011 after previously working in various different jobs, mostly admin roles. She has a keen interest in wildlife, especially birds, and a Countryside Management qualification from Brinsbury College. She is also a lover of all things “crafty”.

Working Monday to Friday, she deals with correspondence, answers wildlife queries, signposts callers to other organisations, and supports our wonderful helpline volunteers. Bunny says the favourite part of her role is being able to share her knowledge and passion for wildlife, and seeing good outcomes for the animals in our care.

We would like to say an enormous Thank You to Patrick who raised £256.25 at his art exhibition in aid of Wadars. His brilliant artwork honoured his late grandmother and her rescue Cat Rupert.

Well done Patrick 🥳

🐾Home appeal🐾

This distinguished gentleman is 9 year old Teddy. He has a very calm nature and in his previous home was good with young visitors, although he has not lived with children.

Although he is an older boy, Teddy still very much enjoys his walks and exploring new places and is good travelling in the car. Due to his age, he may need a little extra TLC but does not need any medication.

Teddy has lived with a female dog before, so may be able to live with a calm female dog. He might also be suitable to live with children aged 12 or above.

If you are interested in adopting Teddy or any of the other dogs available on our website, please call Wadars on 01903 247 111.☎

*Update- this cat is owned, chipped and local to the area. Please do not feed him*
Do you recognise this cat? This cat has been seen around the Melrose Avenue area of Tarring for a little while and local residents are a bit concerned that it might be lost. At this stage the cat appears to be perfectly healthy and well fed, and rather than just remove it from the area we are carrying out a few checks locally to try to confirm whether it is in fact owned. If you recognise this cat or know who it might belong to, please do let us know. Meanwhile please do share this post.

This gentleman is Suki, he is a gentle giant who loved to play with string toys and relax the days away whilst he was recently in our care at Wadars. Suki was successfully rehomed by our cattery team last month and these are some of the photos his new family have shared with us. 🐾

"He's really loving it here, really made himself at home!"

🐾Home appeal🐾

Beautiful 7 year old Baby is looking for a forever home...

Baby has a lovely calm and affectionate personality but can be shy when meeting new people. Because of this, we are looking for a quiet home where she can slowly settle and grow in confidence.

Once you’ve won her trust, Baby enjoys sitting on the odd lap, and is known for rolling around on the floor for attention. She also loves being outdoors and exploring, but always returns for her dinner.

We believe Baby would make a loving addition to a home. She could be rehomed with older children, but we are looking for a home without other pets.

If you are interested in adopting Baby or any of the other cats we currently have available, please visit our website to apply. https://www.wadars.co.uk/cat-adoption/

Do you recognise this cat? The cat has been seen around the West Way area of High Salvington, Worthing for a couple of years. Please be aware that this cat is not handleable, but Wadars is working with local residents on a plan to confine it, and take it to a vet for a check-up. If you recognise this cat or know who it might belong to, please do let us know. Meanwhile please do share this post.

Recently our Animal Rescue Officer Billy was called out to this sweet group of young Black-backed gulls who had unfortunately fallen off their roof top nest. 🏠

Billy was able to successfully identify which nest these chicks had fallen from and return them back up to their nest to grateful parents. 🐥

If you see an animal you believe needs rescuing, please call Wadars on 01903 247 111 for wildlife advice and assistance. ☎

🐾On the 10th June it will become law for all cat owners in England to have their cats microchipped by the time they reach 20 weeks of age.

This will help to ensure any lost, stolen, or injured cats have the very best chance of being reunited with their owners as quickly as possible.

For further details about microchipping your pet contact your vets and book your fluffy companion in to be microchipped.

Could you offer this young hamster a loving home?🏠

This little chap is Almond, and he is looking for his forever home. Almond is a young boy and needs someone who is happy to take their time and get him used to being handled. He can be a little quick so won’t suit younger children, but he loves new enrichment to keep him entertained.🐾

If you have space for this tiny ball of fluff in your family, or if you would like some more information on how to care for a dwarf hamster, please get in contact with our team or apply online.☎

Meet our team!⭐️

Wadars operates with a fairly small team of paid staff, supported by more than 100 amazing volunteers, and with it being volunteers week we thought you might like to ‘meet’ our volunteer coordinator who manages and supports all of our amazing volunteers.

Carrie (pictured here with the lovely Bugsy, who was rescued as a stray and rehomed by Wadars this month) is our volunteer coordinator.

She is a Registered Veterinary Nurse of 40 years’ experience with a special interest in wildlife, small furries and exotic pets. Interspersing her nursing career Carrie has managed a boarding kennels and cattery and for several years lectured in Veterinary Nursing and Animal Care. Carrie joined the Wadars team in 2019 as an ad hoc Animal Welfare Assistant, later moving into her role as our volunteer coordinator.

Working daily supporting and recruiting volunteers, Carrie`s favourite part of her role is being able to meet and get to know all the remarkable people who volunteer for us.
