Poor Lottie had a major Challenge to stay on Mumble. Although, there was something she could have done better. When she approached the fence she went ever so slightly before her horse - it is very hard to see but in these instances the horse feels everything even if we don’t. And in this case Mumble took advantage and she was ejected out of the saddle.
Imagine being able to deal with any stop or run out before it happens. Or, surviving spooks, spins, bucks and unexpected jolts. When you are, "Ready4Trouble", falling off, losing your balance, refusals and run outs will be few and far between.
It is for this reason that Lucinda has created her “Ready4Trouble” Challenge.
This is why Lucinda has created The “Ready4Trouble” Challenge - to help riders understand, prepare and avoid potential trouble like:

First and foremost - Amanda was ok after this fall.
As Lucinda discusses in her comments, Amanda jumped ever so slightly before her horse which made it hard for the horse to stay in balance and take off.
But how do you make sure you don’t do this?
It is for this reason (and many others) that Lucinda has created her “Ready4Trouble” Challenge.
Imagine being able to deal with any stop or run out before it happens.
Or surviving spooks, spins, bucks and unexpected jolts.
When you are "Ready4Trouble", falling off, losing your balance, refusals and run outs will be few and far between.
You don’t need the “Ready4Trouble” position JUST for jumping. Trouble can find you anywhere, out hacking, in the dressage arena or in the school.
This Challenge is designed for all riders who do not want to fall off.

While the ground is hard don’t give up on XC training. One of Lucinda Green’s favourite quotes is “Before you go fast you must go slow” and using terrain and small jumps is the perfect way to hone yours and your horses skills. We have several areas around the site where you can do this using water, ditches, steps and terrain. Wonderful for training footwork, reactions and balance (for you and the horse). Email us if you would like to use these areas and we will book you in! [email protected]
The Tweseldown Team were so so impressed with the Mini Cup riders today. The dogged determination not to give up even when some of the ponies weren’t on their best behaviour and the rain poured down. Some of you may be a bit disappointed not to have a clear round but it wasn’t the clear rounds that impressed Rachael today. It was the riders who didn’t give up and kept on riding until the end even when it wasn’t goi g to plan 💪See you on August 18th for the next Mini Cup Qualifier!
Good Luck to all our competitors today. 🍀
The team have arrived for day 2 of our BE Horse Trial and we have a very special birthday. Suzanne’s Garner is one of Tweseldown’s longest standing volunteers and is responsible for all of the XC scores going up so quickly. Please show your love and wish Suzanne Happy Birthday 🥳

Rare Birds at Tweseldown
Have you ever wondered why we have no schooler signs dotted around the site at Tweseldown.
Aside from protecting the BE XC tracks we also want to ensure the safety of the 3 very rare species of birds that have moved back to Tweseldown (Woodlark, Nightjar and Dartford Warbler)
A Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) Tweseldown had been declared “unfavourable and declining” when we took over 10 years ago.
With the help of John Eyre and Jim Baldwin (affectionately known as the “2 Js”) along with Elliot Fairs, Natural England and MOD ecologist Sarah Jupp the Heathland is now in “Favourable Condition” which is a huge accomplishment and one we are very proud of.
We have thoroughly enjoyed Heathland Management and feel a great sense of pride seeing so many rare species of birds, reptiles and insects inhabiting Tweseldown again.
