I have been made aware that there is a virus going around the Hawkinge area that can make your dogs unwell, so as a precaution I’m removing the water and dog bowls from the field,

Please make sure you bring your own water & bowl for your dogs for when you walk your dogs

I would just like to let dog walkers that are using the walking field over the next few weeks and anyone thinking of using the walking field, that we are planning some work on the walking field we are planning to do the work in between bookings,
We are hoping to replace some signs, paint the shelter and picnic table clean the inside of the shelter, cut the grass, fill the holes that have been dug and lastly put something down to try and stop the mud by the entrance gate,
All I’m asking is that you try not to turn up early for you booking and you leave on time so we can get this work done as quickly as possible

Holes in the field
We do realise that dogs like to dig a hole, ours do too ! However the depth of these holes are ankle/leg breakers for both your dogs and yourselves.
A hole was dug right outside the shelter and left. If your dog does dig a hole that could potentially cause injury to another dog or owner please kick the soil back in the hole.
I am now wheelchair bound so I am no longer able to do these jobs. Today my 12 year old old daughter has got the mammoth task of filling these in which is incredibly hard work. Please be considerate of our property and to other people who use the field.

Just a post about the length of the grass, we are trying to get the grass cut between bookings or by keeping the field empty for a few hours but every time we do this we have to cancel it due to it either raining or the grass being to wet. We had planned to cut the grass yesterday (Friday) but it rained all day the next we are going to try again at to start of next week
Once we have cut the field we can then set about filling the holes that have been dug over winter

We have noticed over the last few weeks an increasing amount of Dog poo not being picked up by owners Please clean up after your dog. We do not want to start naming owners

The tap on the water container has been broken by someone using the field, I have got to get a new container, for the next few days there will be No water in the field till the new container arrives

Due to the heavy rain over night the lane to the walking field is flooded again meaning there is some puddles in the field

For any that has booked ok is thinking of booking the field tomorrow (Friday ) there will be someone working on the gate to the car park to make it easier to open and close

Due to the rain over the last week or so the gate to the car park has dropped. please do not close it as it will be very hard to open

With the rain over night and this morning the Jane to the walking field is flooded plus there is lots of water in the field itself so unless you have a dog that loves water and you have long wellies I would advise not to book the field

Just to let anyone that has booked the walking field tomorrow (Friday) at the moment there is standing water in the lane leading to the walking field plus part of the field there is standing water which some dog will love, there is more rain forecast tonight but hopefully some of the standing water will soak away over night, if anyone want to change there booking I’m happy to do that.

There is a yellow weather warning for wind on Thursday, at the moment there is no bookings for the walking field, I’m watching the weather closely if it looks like it going to be dangerous I will close the field, please think about the weather if your thinking of booking the field on Thursday

I’m sorry I’ve got to have a moan yet again about owners not picking up there dogs poo. The person I’ve got who checking the field for me as I’m in hospital, is finding at least 4 poos not picked up each time they cheak the field

Important update.
I have got to go into hospital on Monday the 11th for spinal cord surgery, i have got someone to keep an eye on the walking field, empty the bins and top the water up. All its going to mean is that any messages and emails might not get replied to as quick as normal, so if any one needs to change there booking, Please give as much notice as possible.

This is just a reminder to walking field users that there is no smoking when using the walking field. Over the last week i have noticed fag butts on the ground so i know someone is smoking when using the field,

Sorry but I've Got To have ANOTHER moan
Over the last few week we have noticed an increasing amount of dog p**p not being picked up by walkers when we are checking the field it is not nice having to pick up other peoples p**p.
please keep an eye on what your dogs are doing. We will checking the field a lot more and repeat offenders will be contacted,

I closed the walking field today so that the gate to the parking area can be lifted up to make it easier to open. the work has been done and the parking area gate now does not touch the ground so it opens a lot easier.
