Mia (aged 6) has been trained as an Autism Assistance dog to support my son who is on the autistic spectrum. She has attended school with him. She also loves dog agility and has done working trials training. Mia is a very intelligent dog who loves being out and about. She loves training and loves children. Lola (aged 4) is the puppy we kept from her first litter. She is a lovely, calm dog who follows me everywhere. Lola has completed her Gold Test and has started Rally Obedience. Poppy (aged 1) is the puppy we kept from Lola’s first litter, so we now have three dogs. Poppy is doing her Bronze test and working on avoiding distractions. Our dogs are pets and companions, and an integral part of the family. We ensure they live their best lives and bring joy and happiness to everyone they meet.
Our goal is to breed dogs with calm temperaments, keen to train and excellent health scores, which are ideal as assistance or therapy dogs. The puppies' training starts at three weeks and includes loud noises, traffic, different surfaces, car travel, cats and children, as well as the usual domestic activity. We will start on toilet training, recall and sit commands. The puppies live in the living room for the first month. They are well socialised and will be taken out on their own so they are accustomed to being separated from their siblings. We follow the Puppy Plan which has been developed by the Kennel Club for the ideal start in life. See here: http://www.thepuppyplan.com/new-owner#.XQjTx7xKiUk
Every puppy we breed is KC registered, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed three times, has five weeks' Kennel Club insurance, is vet checked and comes with a folder of paperwork showing five generations of pedigree and all the health tests (eyes, hips and elbows) from both parents. Our prices have not changed with covid or additional vet fees. Advice and support on care, training and therapy dog training is offered free throughout the puppy’s lifetime.
We breed one litter a year in the summer. The waiting list is based on need for a golden retriever, not how long you are on the list. Preference is given to people who need a therapy dog for mental health, trauma, autistic spectrum or other health reasons. Also to people wanting to train a PAT dog or a dog to be used in school. Two of our puppies are being trained by Hounds for Heroes as assistance dogs and two of our puppies are being trained as Diabetes Hypo dogs.
