With the weather this week and the continual hot weather we are going to be having we cannot stress enough the importance of keeping our beloved pets cool!

Heatstroke can, in some cases, be fatal! It is sometimes sensible to avoid walking your dog all together

🕶 Ensure your dog has access to shade at all times
💦 Bring water out on walks, for your dog as well as for you - walk your dog early morning or late evening
🔥 🖐🏻 Don’t walk your dog on a pavement that’s too hot - test the pavement with your hand, if it’s too hot for you then it’s definitely too hot for your dog
🚗⛔️NEVER EVER leave them alone in the car even with the windows open
🐕 🥵 use cooling mats at home to help your dog stay cool
🥶 freeze your stuffed kong - this is a great way of keeping your dog cool and they love them!
🐰 rabbits can also suffer if left in direct sunlight, move them to shaded areas and provide fresh water at all times!

Symptoms of heat stroke include:

⚠️ Excessive panting
⚠️ Lethargy
⚠️ Racing heart rate
⚠️ Diarrhoea and or vomiting
⚠️ Weakness
⚠️ Collapsing or staggering
⚠️ Seizures

If you are concerned about any of these symptoms it’s important you seek veterinary attention immediately
