JUST HOW VISIBLE DO YOU MAKE YOUR FURBABE FEEL?
Since starting the cattery some 18+ years ago, I have been blessed to meet the most caring, compassionate & loving group of furservants possible. As a consequence of their home environment my furguests are the most sociable, polite, friendly & adaptable holiday makers possible who seemingly enjoy their dotty old Auntie Lynda spoiling them.
I also respect your privacy & security which is why I will not publish your furbabes holiday snaps on social media but will email you privately any incriminating photos of your furbabes funny, mad moments!
Anyone who visits here will also be aware of the rescues which arrive for whom I am the "Last Chance Hotel". These poor souls (currently 26) are the deaf, dumb, blind, old, terminal or abused; some who will never be completely recovered to be rehomed.
Abuse rears its ugly head in many ways.
I should like to share the Wisp's poignant story with you.
For the first four years of her life, Wisp was physically abused until she was rescued & rehomed at the age of 6 with an elderly lady. She was very slow to gain the confidence to trust her two-legged carer & had a loving home until the old lady died. She was then passed to a close relative of the old lady and suddenly Wisp became invisible! Although the barest of her physical needs were met (food & shelter) there were no vet checks, no kind words, no acknowledgement that she was even there for the next three years.
I was approached to take her by that relative who told me Wisp would be euthanised if someone wouldn't take her. Emotional blackmail or what! On the Transfer of Ownership form I asked the current owner to fill in the reason for parting with Wisp was "can't stand the smell of indoor cat"!
My heart breaks when I see this beautiful, damaged little soul who at 13 years old has been so bereft of the simplest & yet, most important gift we can give to any living creature no matter how many legs - acknowledgement, empathy and kindness.
So, please go & give your furbabe just five minutes every day when he/she feels it is the centre of your world - it costs nothing.
