Originally opening Topknot & Tails from a fully equipped parlour within her property. The business grew and now runs from a local village shop. Chantal uses her knowledge and experience to groom all breeds all with their own personalities and individual needs. Here, your dogs will recieve lots of fuss and attention throughout their visit whether they are just coming to have their nails cut, a litt
le tidy or a full groom. Chantal especially loves spending time with nervous dogs and building a bond with them no matter how long or how many visits this takes.

📣Friendly reminder, Garlic is not toxic!!
In Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, garlic is indicated for Food Stagnation, cancer, diabetes, and asthma. It is used to Warm the Middle and promote both digestion and healthy intestinal flora. Most commonly, garlic is used for natural prevention of parasites like fleas and ticks.
Garlic can be beneficial for both dogs and cats in appropriate doses. I use fresh crushed cloves to get the full benefits of garlic.
🐱 For cats: 1/4 clove (crushed) daily, 3-4 days per week.
🐶 For dogs: 1/2 clove (crushed) per 20 pounds of body weight daily, with a maximum of 3 cloves. Best to take at least 1 day per week off.
*Please make sure to note the difference between a clove and a bulb/head of garlic.
Not recommended for puppies and kittens. Long term use is contraindicated in pets with vision issues. If your pet has a history of hemolytic anemia, it would be safer to avoid use of garlic in any form.

Any missed appointments will now have to be paid in FULL at least 2 weeks before your next appointment is due otherwise your appointment will be offered to one of many on my waiting list.
I understand that things happen and you can always phone but if an appointment is missed, it is then too late to be able to fill it.
I am a small business.
I don't get paid if dogs don't turn up but yet in the meantime I will have prepped the bath (this includes electric to heat it and we all know how expensive electric is now) along with specific shampoo made up for your dogs needs and that all has to be paid for as well as covering costs for staff that are here waiting for your arrival.
As I say, I understand things happen, but if you know that you won't be here for your appointment for whatever the reason, please can I ask that you have the courtesy to call. We have an answer machine on 24/7 for when we can't get to the phone or its out of hours.

Lateness.
I totally understand that things happen and sometimes we run late. If this is the case, please can I ask that you call to let us know whether it's dropping off or picking up.
We run to appointment times and lateness can have a big knock on affect on our day. If we are aware that you are running late, we can plan around it so that it has less impact. There are times that for example we can't bath the next dog because we are waiting but if we're aware, we can plan around it.

Please please please can I ask, if you are aware that your dog has fleas, that you call ahead of your appointment.
In this situation we would rather move your dogs appointment to the end of the day so that we can easily contain any little blighters.
It's unfair if you are aware of it, for you to bring them in when we have other dogs in and out all day.
Whilst we always do our best to contain the situation, sometimes it's not possible, we all know how sneaky the little beasts are. But we do then do a deep clean at the end of the day or sooner of possible
It's nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed about. It happens, but a heads up would every much appreciated

Avoid the longterm antibiotic skin treatment! Many pets don’t need it AND there is a bigger problem facing us ALL.
Long term antibiotics can lead to the development of antibiotic resistance bacteria developing. And those resistant bacteria can spread to us, making us antibiotic resistant. This is pretty important (I lost my own mum in 2015 to antibiotic resistance).
Many skin conditions do NOT require antibiotics. Topical (this mean applying something directly) Is the way forward…
