Patio fitted for a customer who I have previously fitted a new kitchen, shower room and new wooden flooring throughout downstairs.

All work had to be done by hand, no room for mini diggers here, 12 ton of concrete slabs and soil removed, then 5 ton of limestone back in and compacted before the fun bit of laying the new sandstone started.

I've been really busy recently with renovation jobs, this was a one I did in Owston Ferry a while ago now.

The work entailed fitting a new kitchen, a new bathroom, tiling for both, new flooring, building a fireplace surround and a new garden room, no photos of the garden room sadly.

Helping me on this one was Julian Howden with fitting the kitchen and Ian Thorpe with the plumbing.

Garden room/ home office I have just completed this week with my friend Julian Howden.

We started from scratch digging out and laying the concrete base to fully completing the building and supplying all the materials and we also sourced the other tradesmen we needed. (plasterer and electrician)

We are both very pleased how it has come together and most importantly the owners are 😊 happy.

Quite a big block paved driveway job I have just done with my mate Julian Howden, I don't think anyone could disagree with me that it looks loads better than when we started.

Goodbye old rotten slippery decking and welcome to our new patio and path just a bit of landscaping to do now but I am super pleased with it, I think our dogs Ben, Sally and Baxter like it.

I have been really busy recently with patios, it seems we are all enjoying being at home and wanting to improve our gardens with relaxing areas.

Home and Stable has still been able to do some outside work during lockdown where social distancing has been achievable, here is a special fencing job that sends 25% of the sound back from where it came. This product is Jacoustic fencing.

I was originally doing a paving job at this property and then was asked to paint and tidy the support post, on closer inspection it was very evident it was quite rotten.
Sourcing a new piece of solid timber to support a roof this big wasn't that easy a task but a lovely piece of oak was found. I then laid a new concrete pad and had a specially made steel plate which I bolted to it. It was then the nerve racking time to cut this quite expensive piece of oak to size and position in place and phew it fitted perfectly!
Final jobs were to make good all the trim around the top, the paving and remove the very essential acrow props which supported the roof while the work was carried out.

One of my best clients recently asked me to make and fit some new gates for a 5 metre gateway.
I was scratching my head for a bit thinking how am I going to make and fit these on my own but then a good friend of mine Julian Howden was available to help me and his first class joinery skills and knowledge were invaluable.
Two heads are better than one someone once said.

A blank canvas garden on a new build house which I have laid slabs for a large shed, made a retaining wall from sleepers to level the garden up plus preparing the soil for grass seeding, extended existing paving, made a raised patio area and then laid a membrane and put pebbles down

Some steel farm style gates I have recently fitted and a new commercial style drainage system which has metre long concrete channels and half metre cast iron grates to improve the drainage for a stable yard.

A job I did in late Autumn, I removed the old grey tired steel sheeting and re clad with new more aesthetically pleasing green sheeting which blends in with the countryside background much better.
The owners were very happy with their refurbished barn which looks as good as new.

A recent brand new kitchen I have fitted as well as tiling the walls and fitting the flooring, I made the new exterior door as well.
This room was a brick wall storage room a few weeks ago and looks amazing now as a kitchen and I am super pleased with how it has come together.

A garden retaining wall and a path I have recently just finished as part of the owners ongoing renovation of this garden, it is on quite a steep slope so my spirit level came in very handy.

A recently finished job, taking down a rotten balcony other than the main uprights and rebuilding with new tanalised timber which will last a lot longer than the old one made with untreated wood. A big thank you to Sheik Howden for his help stripping the old balcony and building the main frame.

I am really busy for the next 6 weeks due to some fabulous regular customers but will have availability for new work in the autumn.

With the the fabulous weather we have been having I have managed to do a job I quoted for last year refurbishing Wags and Whiskers pet shop front in Epworth. All paintwork was stripped back and repaired where necessary as this is a historic market town it had to be a sympathetic renovation as the town council don't allow PVC windows. A new panel was made for the front window and then all woodwork painted. My doggies loved all the fabulous treats Yvonne has in stock, if you have pets you need to shop here.

Some work I have recently done making a radiator cover and a cabinet for various media equipment and I have repaired an internal step.

18/03/2018

A big job I have just completed boarding out a barn which I had to make a wood frame to attach the ply sheets to, it should make it much warmer, easier to clean and quieter with the steel sheets not rattling as much.

A bigger repair job than it looks that I have just done on some doors for a listed building as they have to be repaired and look original in keeping with the old building.

A busy first four days of the week taking out an old and fitting a new kitchen in a rental property.

28/01/2018

I have been very busy with the woodwork again recently making some custom made doors and have some very happy and satisfied customers.

11/01/2018

It was a busy time before Christmas for me but my favourite job has to be making some miniature barns for two young boys toy farm set for a Christmas present.

24/10/2017

Some of last weeks work building a little wood shed to keep the logs dry in a very limited space.

19/10/2017

I was commissioned to make a made to measure door for an exciting archway in a patio area used for barbecues and evening entertaining, my clients were delighted with the finished result and want some more outside doors making.

14/09/2017

Concrete base I have done recently so the customer could extend their stable yard and have a new stable block erected. The ground sloped away so I had to make the base thicker at that side and also so it would have a slight slope to the middle where I put a drainage channel to allow the water to run away.

27/08/2017

Earlier this year one of our neighbours asked me to build a raised area so they could view the fabulous river Trent in the beautiful summer evenings, well I have finally got round to it and fabulous it is even if I do say so myself so get the barbecue on we will be round with the wine.

25/08/2017

Another busy week for me in which I had a tack locker on a horsebox to refit that was rather rotten as well as various other general household maintenance jobs to carry out at a property getting things shipshape before the rainy autumn weather sets in.
Now is the time to get in touch if you have any outside jobs you need doing before winter, please pm me or call Bruce on 07392 841645.

18/08/2017

I have been refurbishing a stable yard drain cover which stops the drain getting blocked up but the plastic sides had snapped off and it was moving about with nothing holding it in place and was not secure with big horses walking over it.
It now as angle iron and all cemented in and it won't be moving again anytime soon.

I currently have availability which is rare to take on work within the next 2 weeks for new and existing customers, please pm me on here or call Bruce on 07392 841645.
