Lovely Teddy has been having regular water treadmill treatment for stifle osteoarthritis and patella luxation 🦴

We assist Teddy’s hindlimbs to ensure good quality movement to improve joint range of motion and build muscle, all while he is supported by the buoyancy of the water 🐾💦

He is a superstar when he is with us, and so relaxed in the warm water, he even nods off on his rests 💤 He’s made brilliant progress at home, and we love hearing that he has been able to enjoy longer walks with his doggy pals.

And doesn’t he look handsome in his new fleece, keeping his muscles warm and helping him dry after treatment 😍

Keep up the great work, Teddy! 🌟

Piper joined us when he was diagnosed with hip dysplasia, he copes very well, but knowing that hip dysplasia is a degenerative condition, his owners were keen for early intervention to support him as he gets older.

Piper has a very active lifestyle and hydrotherapy helps to maintain his muscle mass, joint range of motion and cardiovascular fitness. All while being great fun! 🐾💦

Handsome Trevor has water treadmill therapy to support his hindlimbs following TPLO surgery. He has been super brave getting used to something so new, and is now a pro!

We love seeing his progress each session while we gradually build up his active walking time, building muscle and strength to support his stifles 🐾💦

Rebecca, Trudi and Harriet attended a course today with Canine First Aid Workshops - UK - Rachel Bean RVN. As Registered Canine Hydrotherapists we have to attend a canine first aid course every 2 years, something we feel is very important so we are confident in our skills if we ever need them 🩹🦴

We highly recommend Rachel’s courses for both canine professionals and anyone who shares their life with a dog. Rachel delivers this course worldwide, so when we heard about one locally (hosted by Quality Canines), we jumped at the chance to do it (even though we didn’t need to renew until next year!). The knowledge and skills we have taken away are so valuable for all dog owners 🐾📚

And of course, we got to meet some lovely dogs too 🥰

And thank you to our Saturday clients who rearranged their usual appointments to alternative days this week so we were able to attend (we’ll see some of you bright and early tomorrow with the clock change ⏰) 🐾💦

Lovely little Ralph is a pro in both the water treadmill and the pool!

When we first assess your dog we will look at lots of factors to decide if they will be having pool or water treadmill therapy, and in some cases a combination of both works best!

Ralph first joined us in 2020 following a diagnosis of hip dysplasia, and has continued with treatment for maintenance of his condition. He alternates between pool and treadmill therapies so he benefits from both partial weight bearing in the water treadmill and the non weight bearing environment of the pool.

Every dog we see is an individual, and so is their treatment plan 🐾💦

‼️We have been made aware of a road closure on the way to us on the B1398 roundabout by Harpswell / Hemswell. Please allow extra time when travelling to us 🚙

There is a shorter diversion if you take the turning towards Hemswell from the roundabout you can then turn right on to ‘Dog Kennel Lane’ which will bring you back onto Middle Street so you can turn into Glentworth 🧭🗺️

Please be aware if coming from Lincoln / surrounding villages that there are road closure signs quite early along, you can still get to us 🐾💦

Lovely Summer has been having Physiotherapy treatment following bilateral TPLO (Tibial Plateau Levelling Osteotomy) surgery, a procedure used to stabilise the stifle (knee) joint following cruciate disease 🩺

Her follow up appointment started with reassessing her stifle range of motion, as well as checking how all of her joints moved, while identifying and addressing any compensatory tightness and restriction 🤲🏼

Treatment included laser therapy, soft tissue massage and joint mobilisations, alongside reviewing her home exercise program 💪🏼

What a superstar Summer always is for us 🌟

Here’s a little snippet of superstar Dexter in action today, on his 2nd birthday! Happy birthday handsome boy 🎁🎂🐾💦

Fabulous Walter enjoying his time in the pool! Hydrotherapy can look different for every dog we see, we tailor their sessions to their individual needs 💙 Walter is a very keen swimmer, on the way back to the resting platform, Millhaven’s Rebecca is adding some support to his hindlimbs to encourage correct use by giving him stability to steady him up so he doesn’t roll from side to side, whilst also supporting the hips from his side so his limbs aren’t swinging round. He also has a little bit of resistance added to encourage joint range of motion. In Walter’s case, if we added this in on his way out, he would turn back round, so we use his motivation to get back to his toy and treat as the time we can give him more input 🐾💦
