Gr**go has been waiting patiently on a forever home for some time now. Could that be you?

He needs an adult only home or a home with dog savvy teenagers in a home with breed experience. He has previously lived with children but we've not had him fully assessed around children he doesn't know.

He cannot live with other dogs at the moment. He is reactive to other dogs when out walking. He has previously lived with other dogs but until we've had him fully assessed in a home environment we need a dog free home.

He cannot live with cats, we've not been able to safely assess him around small furry animals he doesn't know.

We would love to find Gr**go a home environment with someone around most of the time that is willing to provide one to one attention and work on basic training, lead walking and general household manners and boundaries.

If you think you have what it takes to provide a loving, safe and secure home environment for Gr**go or any other dogs in our care please get in touch.

Axel has been stuck waiting on a forever home for over a year now.

I'm so saddened by this. Living in kennels for so long is simply not good enough.

This boy has had such an awful start in life, punted from pillar to post before coming into our care. Failed by humans at every given opportunity and now by us.

Axel is a young dog with so much potential. He just needs to catch a break with someone who wont give up on him .

He needs an adult only home or a home with dog savvy teenagers in a home with breed experience.

He cannot live with other dogs. He is reactive to other dogs when out walking and when previously living with another dog he was food and toy possessive and had to be kept separate or they would fight.

He cannot live with cats, he will chase and would cause harm.

Axel needs a home environment with someone around most of the time that is willing to work on basic training, lead walking and general household manners and boundaries.

If you think you have what it takes to provide a loving, safe and secure home environment for Axel or any other dogs in our care please get in touch.

Looking for fosterers willing to take on dogs that may need training, socialising etc

In order to safely assess dogs for rehoming we are looking for the following:

🔹Pet free homes
🔹Child free homes
🔹Breed experience
🔹Someone home majority of the day
🔹Active lifestyles
🔹Physically strong enough to manage strong dogs that pull on a lead

Dobermanns can make the best companions, we are passionate about this breed because we adore them, faults and all. As far as we're concerned, the good far outweighs the bad when dealing with these dogs.

However, we're not about to lie about what it takes. Dogs being surrendered into rescue often come with some baggage. These dogs may not have basic training, they may be lacking in general obedience or manners, they may not understand boundaries. Some dogs may have behavioural issues that need to be worked on. Some dogs may suffer from separation anxiety etc Most dogs being surrendered to rescue for rehoming are being rehomed for specific reasons.

Dogs coming into rescue aren't always failed by humans, some are victims of circumstance. But more often than not, the dogs coming into our care are being rehomed because they exhibit unmanageable or undesirable behaviours that aren't an easy fix.

When you consider adopting from a rescue please keep all this in mind, remember that these dogs need time, patience and understanding above all else. Training will be required.

And fostering is far from easy, we wont sugar coat it, it can be down right infuriating to begin with, you take a dog into your home with all the best intentions to find you suddenly get no sleep, the dog barks at every little noise, they pull relentlessly on a walk, they don't listen, maybe they get anxious or act out through boredom. All this can be stressful and tiring to deal with and the only way to get through it is to persevere, seek professional help, ask friends and family to help when you feel overwhelmed etc - SDR knows all of this, and we are here to support you as best we can, but the hard work needs to come from you. We can help with training, we can assist in various ways to try and make the transition as smooth as possible but ultimately, you need to have what it takes to push through the hard times to come out the other side with a loyal and devoted four-legged friend. This breed is so loving, so devoted and so worth it!

FOSTER HOMES NEEDED

We need to get Axel and Gr**go out of kennels NOW!
They've waiting too long and it isn't fair. It breaks my heart to have them waiting so long. Rescue is increasingly difficult but having dogs stuck waiting so long is not why we do this. Let's band together and find these boys the loving homes they deserve.

For fostering, we are looking for pet free homes with no young children where dogs can be safely assessed for rehoming. Ideally we are looking for breed experienced homes where typical breed traits wont be seen as unmanageable but dealt with as a work in progress with basic training being implemented to help them.

If you think you can help us please email - [email protected]

home checks will apply - there's no fee for fostering.

Dogs currently available can be found in the pinned post on the page.

Desperately trying our hardest to get Gr**go and Axel out of kennels.

We also need a loving forever home for Medusa and Reo.

Luna has had a lot of interest and we are in the process of matching her to the most suitable home, watch this space for updates.

Bruno is in foster with a view to adopt, just waiting on the adoption paperwork before announcing it officially.

Until we find forever homes for our current dogs we sadly wont be able to help others in need. Please help us by sharing our posts.

We're encouraging people to print out future posts to post up around your local shops where allowed to help reach potential homes with people not currently using social media.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SHARE!

Axel is desperately needing to find a suitable foster/forever home where he can get the attention he deserves. Currently in kennels. This poor boy has spent a year in kennels... that's 12 months... he doesn't deserve that...

Profile - https://scottishdobermannrescue.co.uk/dogs/axel-2/

• People: Friendly towards people, Could live with teenagers +
• Other dogs: Reactive towards other dogs
• Has previously shown some signs of resource guarding with toys & food
• Cats: Cannot live with cats
• Dislikes: fireworks
• Likes: one to one attention, training games, playing with his toys and long walks

Axel has been passed from home to home before the age of one then spent the majority of his young life in kennels. He deserves a loving forever home with someone who wont give up on him. It's so important that we get him out of kennels and into a home environment as soon as possible where he can be safely and fully assessed for rehoming. He's only two years old and has been repeatedly failed by humans. A year living in kennels is no life for any dog. He has so much potential and deserves his own family.

If you are interested in adopting any of the dogs you see, then please ensure you have submitted an adoption application via our website so that we are able to contact you as rehoming requests for dogs are submitted to us.

Adoption Anouncement! 🥳🥳

Fluke has now been officially adopted by his new family and is settling in amazingly well.

I’d just like to say… Rescue is challenging. And we are but human. But even when it seems like nothing is going right we continue to try our best for these dogs. We couldn’t do it without the support of our volunteers and followers. I’d like to thank the people that helped get Fluke to his new home and wish many years of dobe nonsense and many laughs to his new family

£422.32 has been donated collectively over the last two days towards our £500 target which was asked for to help us cover the cots of an operation for our boy, Bruno, who injured his dew claw on Sunday. We received an update to say that he will hopefully get away without needing to have the whole dew claw removed which is such good news.

He has a check up appointment with his vet still to happen but we're hoping that surgery now wont be necessary !

We wanted to thank each and every one of you that donated to our cause after reading our appeal. Things like this genuinely warm my heart and we feel so privileged to have such supportive followers that are there for us when we need you. Our dogs depend son your kind generosity and we simply couldn't do this without you.

Every single penny donated will go towards helping an SDR dog in some way, if Bruno makes it through recovery without needing surgery, the money donated will help another dog in his place.

Sincerely... Thank you.

Medusa has been in our care for a year now. Surely it's time she found her forever home?

She is an imported cropped and docked brown & tan female born in August 2018.

She was diagnosed in Nov' 22 with hypothyroidism (low thyroid), and is currently on medication and medicated shampoo, SDR will continue to cover the cost of this once adopted if necessary as it will not be covered by insurance.

Profile - https://scottishdobermannrescue.co.uk/dogs/medusa/

• People: Wary of strangers, but she can be friendly if introduced properly. Sometimes it can take a wee while for her to calm down. She is also friendly towards children but again she has to calm down with a proper introduction. She is amazing with her own family but she is very boisterous at times so I wouldn't recommend she is homed with small children.

• Other dogs: Cannot live with other dogs.

• House trained: Yes

• Can be left home alone for a couple of hours

• Cats: Cannot live with cats

• Has never exhibited any of the following behaviours: Snapped / bitten anyone

• Likes: playing with her toys and long walks

• Breed experience preferred

A direct rehome is planned for this dog. This means that the dog will not have to go into foster care or kennels; it’ll go from her current home directly to the adopter’s home, which means the dog doesn’t have to go through more change than is necessary. If you are interested in adopting any of the dogs you see, then please ensure you have submitted an adoption application via our website so that we are able to contact you as rehoming requests for dogs are submitted to us.

Luna is currently still with her owner and is looking for a new forever home.

Luna is a 3 yr old docked import but has natural ears. She's been spayed.

She currently lives with other dogs that she gets along with, she is also good around the owners grandchildren.

We'll consider homes with children over the age of 5 years in homes with breed experience. She could possibly live with another neutered male if introductions go well.

Profile - https://scottishdobermannrescue.co.uk/dogs/luna/

• People: Friendly once introduced

• Other dogs: Could probably live with another dog

• House trained: Yes

• Can be left home alone for a couple of hours

• Cats: Cannot live with cats

• Has never exhibited any of the following behaviours: Snapped / bitten anyone

• Likes: Training games, playing with toys, one to one attention

Good news and Bad news Everyone

We thankfully managed to find a suitable foster home with a view to adopt for Bruno, and while he's been settling into the new routines, everything was moving in the right direction...

Unfortunately while outside running riot, having fun and generally enjoying life Bruno tripped and has injured his foot, sadly he will need to have surgery to remove a broken dew claw.

As he is still technically in foster, SDR is responsible for his vet bills.

We've received a quote for the treatment he'll need and now need to raise £500 by this Friday 24th May when he is booked in for the operation.

We need to beg each and every one of our followers and supporters to help us raise enough pennies to cover his vet bill so that our funds aren't drained as we still have other dogs in our care needing our help and two boys still waiting in kennels. Even if you can spare £1 towards the bill, it all adds up. We would greatly appreciate whatever you can afford to donate.

You can pay:
Via PayPal - friends & family - [email protected]
Via BACS - Scottish Dobermann Rescue SCIO, 00661794, 16-12-85
Or by card - https://scottishdobermannrescue.co.uk/donate

Thank you so much for your continued support.

Received a lovely update from Zara’s new owners with these pictures of her sunbathing. Things like this remind me of why we do this hard graft thankless work. It’s all to see dogs like Zara living their best lives in loving homes.

Please consider adopting a Dobermann in need, it’s often hard work but when the perseverance pays off you receive a companion for life.
