Emmi-Pet Teeth Cleaning Service
I'm very pleased to announce that after extensive training, Eds Shearings are now able to offer a professional canine teeth cleaning service, using the Emmi-Pet Ultrasound device.

Emmi-Pet is revolutionising dental care for dogs across the globe, allowing them to have their teeth cleaned without having to be put under anaesthetic.

Once introduced correctly, this unique toothbrush is generally well accepted by dogs, as not only is it soundless and vibration-free, no actual brushing or scrubbing is necessary. Before you read on, I'd just like to stress that this is not a 'magic wand' - it's a gentle and gradual method of removing tartar and bacteria from your dog's teeth and gums and needs to be used for several sessions in order to thin the tartar and bacteria enough to make it safe to flick the tartar off the teeth.

The good news is that from the very first use, the ultrasound is killing the bacteria in the mouth and right under the gum line, which results in the immediate reduction, or even total elimination of bad breath!

By using ultrasound tooth cleaning as part of a regularly scheduled routine, you can help to avoid taking your dog to the vet for a professional scale and polish, which can only be achieved while under a full anaesthetic.

How Do I Know My Dog's Teeth Need Cleaning?
When food particles and bacteria accumulate on your dog's gum line, plaque is formed - a sticky, colourless film that covers teeth when not cleaned. Combined with saliva and minerals, it transforms into tartar (hardened plaque), which causes gum irritation, premature tooth loss and an inflammatory condition called gingivitis.
Symptoms:
Have you noticed that your dog has bad breath?
Are your dog's teeth yellow/brown coloured, especially close to the gum line?
Does your dog have red/sore looking gums?
Does your dog exhibit any signs of mouth shyness?
Is your dog off their food or chews?
It's estimated that by the time they are two years old, 80% of dogs begin to show signs of oral disease!
How Emmi-Pet Works
Emmi-Pet with its unique and patented dental care system, is now setting a new trend for a completely new kind of dental cleaning and oral hygiene. It's gentle, motionless and does not involve brushing or any abrasive action!

This revolutionary method is based on a globally unique patent - the Ultrasonic Piezo-Chip created by Emmi-dent. This Piezo-Chip sits in the head of the ultrasonic toothbrush and generates up to 96 million oscillations (air vibrations) per minute. By comparison, electric toothbrushes generate approximately 20,000 oscillations per minute

These ultrasound waves are then transferred, via the bristles of the toothbrush head, onto Emmi-Pet's specially formulated toothpaste. The ultrasound waves pe*****te the gum up to 12mm deep, getting into the gum pockets and soft tissue, killing all the bacteria and impurities that can cause periodontal disease.

At this point 'micro bubbles' are generated, which react with the air vibrations and implode. These implosions effectively eliminate and remove food particles, plaque and bacteria from the teeth, gums, palate and tongue.

10 Reasons Dog Owners Are Loving Emmi-Pet Teeth Cleaning

1. It's a very gentle way to clean teeth, as there is no need for mechanical movement.

2. It's completely silent and non-vibrating - so readily accepted by the majority of dogs.

3. It kills bacteria, promotes blood circulation, softens tartar and has a sterilising effect.

4. It's very effective against bleeding gums, bad breath and prevents periodontitis, ulcers and other dental diseases.

5. It's ideal as a preventative treatment for puppies and young dogs who have not yet developed excessive plaque and tartar.

6. No anaesthetic or sedative is required, so particularly good for dogs who, for whatever reason, are unable to have anaesthetic - elderly dogs or those with medical issues.

7. It cleans gums up to 12mm deep with gentle ultrasonic waves and is non-invasive.

8. It prevents and removes tartar and plaque build up.

9. Used regularly it is a preventative treatment for tooth and gum disease.

10. The ultrasonic waves from the Emmi-Pet have been tested and proven to be absolutely safe.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will It Hurt My Dog?

No - the ultrasound technology is completely painless. There is also no noise or vibration from the brush, it simply needs to be held against each tooth for approximately 30 seconds, so no brushing or scrubbing is necessary. Happily, most dogs quickly accept the process.

How Quickly Will I See A Difference In My Dog's Teeth?

There is no definitive answer to this as it depends on the condition of the teeth at the start of the treatment. If the teeth have very heavy plaque deposits it may take around 10 treatments, or more to see a difference in the amount of plaque. Be assured though, from the very first use, the ultrasound is killing the bacteria in the mouth, which results in the immediate reduction, or even total elimination of bad breath!

If your dog only has a small amount of tartar build up then you will see a visual difference more quickly, although this depends on how frequently your bring your dog for treatment.

What If My Dog Doesn't Like It?
Please note that we will never force a dog to have the treatment if it is excessively unsettled by the procedure. Some dogs take a few sessions to learn to accept the brush, while many are happy from day one.

If I am unable to settle your dog to accept the treatment after a few sessions, then I will obviously discuss this with you and if we are unable to continue, any payments already made for future treatments would be refunded.

My Dog Doesn't Have Any Tartar. Is It Worth Them Having The Treatment?

Yes! Prevention is always better than cure. The system kills bacteria in the dogs mouth, which is the main cause of gum problems and plaque build up.

By having regular sessions, either alongside your dog's routine groom or as a stand-alone treatment, you are helping to prevent the tartar form attaching to the teeth and keeping those pearly whites clean and healthy for years to come.

Is Ultrasound Safe For My Dog?
Ultrasound is safe for humans to 40. The Emmi-Pet uses just 0.4 and so is completely safe to use. In fact it has been clinically tested and proven that there are no adverse affects to using the Emmi-Pet toothbrush.

Why Do I Need To Clean My Dog's Teeth?
A regularly scheduled oral hygiene routine is the best way to protect your dog's dental health. As humans, we clean our teeth twice a day - why do we never clean our dogs' teeth?

When you don't clean your dog's teeth, you typically end up having to make an appointment with the vet so that your dog can have a full anaesthetic and a usually costly, dental overhaul. After this professional clean, over time the plaque will start to build up again and unless you are maintaining a regular oral hygiene routine, you'll be faced with the same scenario a couple of years down the line. Please remember, that dogs need dental care too!

Eds Shearings can not be held responsible for any problems occurring from poor dentition before, during or after any ultrasound treatments – such as tooth removal, gingivitis etc.

Removal of even mild tartar can reveal conditions that could not be seen prior to its removal. If this occurs, it is the responsibility of the owner to seek veterinary attention.
