Due to market increases across the board we have had to re assess our prices. We understand that some customers had an understanding with the previous owner. Unfortunately we will no longer be in a position to offer these discounts. A new pricing policy will commence on the 1st of July. We hope you understand and we look forward to seeing you're lovely dogs very soon. Thanks very much Eds Shearings.
From the 6th of June we are offering blue light card holders 10% off a full groom. In recognition of our emergency services HM forces and veterans. Simply present you're card.
Did you know your dogs have legal rights . 😳
The Animal Welfare Act was passed in 2006. Under this Act owners have a legal duty to meet the five welfare needs of their pets and whilst in our care we as DOG GROOMERS also share the same responsibility. So, what are the ‘Five Needs’ and how do we make sure they are met?
1.The need for a suitable environment.
We provide safe crates and bedding .
2.The need for a suitable diet.
We provide fresh water at all times. 🚰
3.The need to be able to exhibit normal behaviour patterns.🐶
4. The need it has to be housed with, or apart from, other animals.
We provide family size and individual crates.🐕 🦮🦮 🐕🦺
5. The need to be protected from pain, suffering, injury and disease.
WE DO NOT BRUSH OUT MATTED FUR AND CAUSE DISTRESS.
The humane way to remove the mats would be to clip his hair short. The length of his hair will depend on how tight the mats are. We must be able to get the blade under the mat right against the skin to remove them. If the mats aren't too tight, sometimes we can get longer blades underneath the mats to salvage some length. However, if the mats are tight to the skin, we would need to use our shortest blade available to remove the mats. This would result in very short hair but would give you a fresh start and make your dog much more comfortable. This is often not the style that most owners would prefer, but is often the safest and most humane option for your dog if he is matted.
We love your dogs just as much as you do and this is why we do what we do. We are passionate dog lovers who have made a career choice of spending time with dogs and doing what we love. We only want the best for your dogs.
When your dog is matted, we believe in doing what is best for your dog. In many cases, this means shaving the mats out of your dog. Shaving is not a “short cut” to get the job done quickly, this can be a very slow, tedious and dangerous process. We are working on areas of your dog where skin is thin, likely already irritated and sometimes their hair is being pulled because of tight mats. Removing a heavily matted coat includes risks of nicks, cuts or abrasions due to warts, moles and skin folds trapped and hidden within the matted hair. Therefore, shaving a matted dog must be done slowly with utmost care.
Never cut the mats out of your dog's fur with scissors. It's very easy to catch your dogs' skin in the mats and unintentionally create a large wound on your dog. Please do not ask us to just "cut out the mats" when your dog is matted. This is dangerous, and we will only remove mats with clippers for the safety of your dog.
From the 1st of July we will be increasing our prices very slightly. This will bring us in line with the national average for groomers. In addition this will assist us with spiralling insurance and service costs.
I would like also to take this opportunity to advise customers if they can't make the appointment please give us at least 48 hours' notice. Margins are tight and we can't afford to have tables free especially when we have clients waiting for appointments. Thank you for you're understanding and we look forward to seeing you're lovely K9's.
As of today Washington and Low Fell branches are now seperate. If you wish to sort an appointment please contact Washington via mobile number direct.
Both studios are extremely busy so please plan ahead. Thank you

Last Sunday morning we took this poor lad in his owner is elderley and has had a lot of health problems of his own and is in hospital and will be going into a care home. This little fellow had been in the home alone being fed from a kind lady who was a neighbour. She had failed in securing him a place in rescue (rescues are overloaded at present with the tsunami of animals trying to secure a rescue place) he was bewildered and pretty shut down he had a welcome comfort talk from Jan then he was whisked away by Gemma for a bath and blast then Charlotte came with her two elderley dogs for a meet and then off he went to her home to recover from his traumatic morning. Today he had an appointment at Ed's Shearing's Dog Grooming Studio. They did a great job and his true colours are now showing through. He is going to visit the vets next and get a health check and sort his ears out and hopefully he may get some hearing back. Update in a week or two
Very true ! Love it 😀
Did you get a puppy for Christmas?
You should be taking your new dog to a groomer as soon as they are able to go outside for walks .Our advice is 2 weeks after their last vaccinations. Your dog needs to get familiar with the sounds and environment in the grooming studio. They also need to learn how to behave whilst being groomed . If you wait 6 months for their first visit ,then your dog may be matted and afraid .
