Are you aware of blue-green algae?

What you need to know:

⚠️ Blue-green algae are tiny bacteria found in still, nutrient-rich water.

⚠️ They produce toxins harmful to dogs; about half of exposed dogs die.

⚠️ Most poisonings occur from drinking or swimming in freshwater lakes and ponds.
Symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, muscle tremors, and seizures can appear within an hour.

⚠️ Prevent poisoning by avoiding risky areas, checking algae warnings, and rinsing dogs after swimming.

We have had a female black and white staffy handed in at our Gateshead Hospital, she was found outside the QE hospital. She is microchipped but the chip is not registered. If you believe she is yours please call us on 0191 487 7319.

We have had a stray dog handed into our Sunderland branch - she is a beige/cream cross breed and was found in Ryhope, Sunderland. She is microchipped but the chip is not registered.
