On the third day of Christmas 🐭



Dormouse monitor, Paul Tillsley, was so pleased to open a nest box back in May this year, to find three sleepy dormice inside!

What a precious sight!

Paul is a licenced dormouse handler in Somerset and Devon and is trained to monitor the species. He was carrying out an organised check of the boxes he'd put up in the wood the previous winter when he came across this tiny trio.

Seeing the flooding news,our poor hedgehogs will sadly suffer too also other wildlife.
Upsetting😢 to think that so many hedgehogs would have made there nests and be in full hibernation.Hedgehogs build their nests at ground level, so flooding for them sleeping is very unlikely that they would be aroused quickly enough to save itself.
Waking from hibernation takes a lot of energy.
If you live near flooded area's look out for hedgehogs,they will need help and taken to a rescue.hedgehogs can swim but would tire and drown.😢😢
