Taurine is an essential amino acid for cats and dogs, but particularly cats?
While taurine is naturally found in animal tissues, some pets can’t produce enough on their own, making it vital for their diet.
Taurine plays a key role in:
* Heart Health: Supports strong cardiac function.
* Vision: Helps maintain good eye health and prevents degeneration.
* Digestion & Reproduction: Aids in bile production and supports reproductive health.

For cats, taurine is even MORE critical because they can’t synthesize it at all. So, when choosing food for your pet, make sure it includes high-quality sources of taurine, like meat and fish!

2 tbsp flax seeds
100g rolled oats
240g wholewheat flour
A small pinch of cinnamon
1 large banana, mashed
35ml melted coconut oil
60ml water

Mix all together, shape and bake for 20 minutes at 175c 🦴

Artificial snow, particularly found on Christmas trees and decorations, can be harmful to pets.
Fake snow is made from chemicals like PVA and cellulose fibers. While safe for humans, it can irritate pets’ skin and is especially risky if pets chew or play with it, like cats often do.
Eating it might also upset their stomach or cause blockages if they eat too much.

To keep pets safe, vacuum often to remove needles and fake snow, and don’t leave pets alone near the tree. And remember to turn off tree lights when out! 🎄

🚫 Why You Should Avoid Rawhide for Your Pets 🚫
As pet owners, we want the best for our furry friends, and that includes the treats we give them. Unfortunately, rawhide—despite being a popular chew—can pose serious risks to your pet’s health. Please remove these from stockings and gifts!

❌ Choking Hazard: Rawhide can break into large, hard pieces that your pet might accidentally swallow, leading to choking or even blockages.
❌ Digestive Issues: Rawhide is difficult for pets to digest, and ingesting large amounts can cause stomach upset, constipation, or worse.
❌ Chemical Concerns: Many rawhide treats are processed with harmful chemicals, dyes, and preservatives that can be toxic to pets over time.
❌ Environmental Impact: Rawhide often comes from poorly regulated sources, contributing to animal welfare and environmental issues.
🔄 Alternatives: Choose safer, more natural chew options like bully sticks, rubber toys, or raw bones from a reputable source and even antler chews.

With our December closures drawing closer please remember to order medication in plenty of time.

The practice will be closed 25th and 26th of December and 1st and 2nd of January, with an early closures on 24th and 31st of December.

Medication will need to be ordered as soon as possible as some of our suppliers and deliveries may be affected by the festive season.

💚 NURSE APPRECIATION POST 💚 We are so incredibly lucky and fortunate that we could celebrate the month of May with our incredible nursing team! May is Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month where we can thank our unbelievable nurses, animal care assistants and nurses in training for all of their incredible work. The nurses are trained in anaesthetic care, intensive care, trainers and teachers, infection control, surgical assistants, lab technicians, administrators, friends, cuddle buddies and SO MUCH MORE! We cannot thank Anita, Nicola and Kodi enough; not to mention our ACAs/ trainee nurses Amy, Demi, Emily and Jenni who are constantly working so hard behind the scenes!! Thank you lovely ladies 💚

This is the treatment of the whole pet, considering behavioural, environmental and nutritional factors, rather than just the symptoms of a disease and being open to using both conventional and alternative therapies to treat your pet.​

Our philosophy is to create a family of pets and their owners who have access to all they need in one welcoming environment. You can pick and choose which services you would like to use whether it be our veterinary supervised day care or booking in for a raw food consultation or vaccination! Our aim is to help you to have the happiest, healthiest pet you can!
