🐾Why Cold-Pressed Food May Be A Good Alternative for Your Pet 🐾

Cold-pressed pet food is an increasingly popular choice for pet owners who want to provide their furry friends with a balanced, high-quality diet, and is a great for those who would love to raw feed but don’t have the space or time. Here’s why: 🌿

1. Preserves Nutritional Integrity
Unlike traditional kibble, which is cooked at high temperatures, cold-pressed food is made using a low-temperature process. This helps retain essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that are often lost during high-heat cooking. 🦴

2. Easily Digestible
Cold-pressed food breaks down naturally in your pet’s stomach, mimicking the way raw or fresh food digests. This can lead to better nutrient absorption and reduce digestive issues for pets with sensitive stomachs. 💡

3. Packed with Natural Goodness
Because of the gentle manufacturing process, cold-pressed food often contains fewer artificial additives, preservatives, and fillers, making it a healthier and more natural option for your pet. 🛡️

4. Supports Long-Term Health
The nutrient-rich formula in cold-pressed food helps support: Healthy skin and a shiny coat. Strong immune function. Better energy levels and overall vitality. 🧊

5. Convenient and Shelf-Stable
Cold-pressed food offers the benefits of fresh food with the convenience of kibble. It can be stored easily without refrigeration while still maintaining its high-quality nutrition. 🔄

6. Sustainable Option
Many cold-pressed food brands prioritize sustainability by using eco-friendly packaging and responsibly sourced ingredients, making it a great choice for environmentally conscious pet owners.

⚠️ WEATHER WARNING ⚠️

On Friday 24th of January our VET PRACTICE will still be open!

PLEASE NOTE, OUR SHOP WILL BE CLOSED!

With severe weather forecast for most of the country over this coming weekend, here is some advice for travelling in poor weather:

🚨Before you travel, check for any diversions or travel restrictions on your local radio, TV and local authority website.

🚨Allow extra time to get to your destination, to account for any delays and allow you to arrive in a relaxed state.

🚨Drive to the conditions around you.
Keep some winter safety items in the car, such as snacks, water, a torch, first aid kit and waterproof jacket. Warm socks, boots, a blanket, and an extra layer of clothing are also a good idea in case you become stranded.
Ensure that your mobile phone is fully charged before setting off.

🚨Let people know the route or public transport you are taking.
Take care when driving on exposed routes such as bridges, or high open roads. Delay your journey or find alternative routes if possible.
Slow down and be aware of side winds. Particular care should be taken if you are towing or are a high sided vehicle.

If using public transport, please check for any delays or changes before you set off, and keep an eye on Met Office and Transport Scotland.

Stay safe all!

🐾 Nail Clipping for Pets: Myth vs. Fact 🐾
Did you know that trimming your pet’s nails is more than just a grooming task? It’s essential for their health and comfort! Let’s debunk some common myths:

❌ Myth 1: Only dogs need their nails clipped.
✅ Fact: In cats, dogs and small furries all need regular nail maintenance. Overgrown nails can cause pain, discomfort, or injury to pets, no matter their species!

❌ Myth 2: Clipping nails hurts pets.
✅ Fact: When done properly, nail clipping doesn’t hurt! Regular trimming helps prevent painful splits or breaks, and the process can even become a bonding experience if done gently and consistently.

❌ Myth 3: Cats can trim their own nails.
✅ Fact: While cats naturally wear down their claws through scratching, they still need occasional trims, especially for indoor cats who don’t have natural surfaces to scratch as much.

❌ Myth 4: You only need to trim nails if they’re visibly long.
✅ Fact: Nails should be trimmed even if they don’t appear too long. Over time, they can grow into the paw pads, causing pain and even infection. Although walking on hard surfaces can help, it isn’t always the case that this will reduce the nail length.

🧑‍⚕️ Tip: If you’re unsure or nervous, call us today on 01413700282 to book in with our nurses. If you’ve signed up to our health plan these are included!
Taking care of those little details means more comfort and fewer health issues for your furry friends. ✂️🐾

🐾❄️ Icy Weather Alert for Pawrents! ❄️🐾

As temperatures drop and icy conditions set in this weekend in Glasgow, it’s important to keep your furry friends safe and warm. Here are a few tips to help protect your pets during this chilly weather

1. Paw Care: Ice, snow, and salt can irritate your pet’s paws. Consider using pet-safe paw balm or boots to protect their paws during walks. Afterward, wipe off their paws to remove any salt or ice.

2. Stay Warm: Make sure your pet has a cozy spot indoors. If your pet needs to go outside, keep walks short and watch for signs of discomfort like shivering or lifting paws.

3. Hydration: Even in winter, pets need access to fresh water. Keep their water bowls from freezing, and make sure they stay hydrated.

4. Never Leave Pets in the Car: Just like in summer, cold weather can be dangerous for pets left in the car. Always take them with you when you go inside.

5. Watch for Hazards: Ice patches can be slippery for pets. Keep an eye out for potential hazards like frozen ponds or ponds that could crack under pressure.

6. TAP YOUR CAR: Please make sure to tap your car bonnet too before starting engines to ensure no animals are hiding in there keeping warm.

Stay safe and warm, and remember, your vet is always here to help! 🐶🐱
