The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies currently has 7 fully funded PhD Studentships for candidates with an interest in sustainable agriculture.

PhD Studentships – fully funded opportunities to study with us.

We have seven three-year studentships available for qualified candidates with an interest in sustainable agriculture.

Subjects range from the environmental impact of Kenyan livestock, the impact of food waste on animals, antimicrobial use in UK game birds, balancing livestock feed with ecological health in East Africa, and resilient food systems in rural Scotland.

These studentships are offered as part of the E5 Doctoral Training Partnership.

Applications are open until 6 January 2024 to UK and international students, with funding to cover stipend and tuition.

🐶 😺 🐮 🐴 2024 has been a bumper year for new veterinary practices in Scotland. We've heard about another one which opened earlier this year - Animal A&E - Vets in Kilsyth, an independent, first opinion, mixed practice in Kilsyth near Glasgow. It came to our attention because they are already looking for another veterinary surgeon (mixed) to join them!

🐴 News of a major breakthrough in Equine Grass Sickness, thanks to research involving The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. A neurotoxin which has similar actions to snake venom toxins is thought to be the cause of EGS according to research involving the R(D)SVS Equine Hospital. The hypothesis raises the potential for novel therapeutic options for EGS and other animal dysautonomias, and may be a consideration in the pathogenesis of human neurodegenerative disease.
