Poor Ozzy has been through the wars recently, so he deserves all the treats he can get β€
The very handsome Toby spent the day with us on Wednesday, and he absolutely stole all our hearts. This is him after his operation so he was clearly still in a good mood, and he was very happy to have cuddles from anyone who walked past. The purring never stopped! We hope he's recovering well at home, and we hope he keeps out of trouble for a good long while.
A few weeks ago, our nurse Robyn got to help with the care of baby rats! These wee ones were just about 4 weeks old and full of mischief π
Arlo Loves His Pet remedy
We often use Pet Remedy in kennels to keep patient stress levels down, and as you can see some cats really, really like it! This is Arlo having a good roll around on a Pet remedy-scented blanket yesterday before surgery. We think it's safe to say he was feeling very comfortable!
Buzz the Cat
Poor Buzz having some much-needed TLC earlier this week. He spent a few days in hospital because he was feeling very unwell, but thankfully his bloods didn't show anything too serious, and he felt better after a few days of being on a drip and some medication. He's now back home and continuing to improve, so fingers crossed the next time we see him will just be for his routine vaccinations next year!
Veterinary HPM Skin and Coat
This is all about the benefits that the formulation of Veterinary HPM has for the skin and coat. Some of the 'did you knows' surprised even us!!
Yasmin's Wee Rats
Yasmin's rats spent the day with us having a wee weight check! We don't see nearly as many rats as we would like, so it's always nice to spend the day with them.
Your Cat Has a Secret Life...
Is your cat bringing home more unwanted presents than you realise?
Cats who go outdoors are at risk of picking up worms, and cats who hunt will almost certainly become infected at some point! Cats don't always show symptoms, so they should be treated at least every 3 months, and monthly if they're good hunters. After all, there are some species of worm which we can pick up when we clean out their litter tray!

Roxie's Recovery!
This wee walk may not look like much, but it's an incredible achievement for Roxie considering she had emergency spinal surgery just 8 weeks ago.
A slipped disc resulted in sudden and progressive paralysis in her back legs, and she was rushed to the Glasgow Small Animal Hospital where she was diagnosed and had emergency spinal surgery. The neurology team were optimistic about her chances, but things were still touch-and-go for a wee while. At one point we were ecstatic about her just being able to wiggle her toes.
After 8 weeks of bed rest and intensive physiotherapy, we're absolutely over the moon to hear that she's now able to go back out on her walks! She still has a lot of recovery to go - her nerves are still healing and it will be some time before she can feel where her feet are and balance properly. Nerves are tricky and they may never heal 100%, but Roxie seems more than happy to crack on with things anyway!
We're stunned by the strength and dedication that her owner has shown throughout everything, and we're so pleased that Roxie has lost none of her excitable, happy-go-lucky nature. Here's hoping she keeps getting better, and keeps herself out of trouble for a good long while β€οΈ
Have a lovely Easter weekend everyone! We're closed now until Tuesday, but the Glasgow Vet School and Vets Now are open all weekend if you have any concerns with your pets.
(In the meantime, Doranne's son's nursery has just had all these adorable chicks hatch!)
Are you regularly applying your pets parasite treatment?
The video below shows mites who were living inside the ear of a cat - eww, right? You don't want to discover these crawling on your dog or cat so it is always a good idea to keep on top of their preventative parasite treatment.
If you are concerned about your pet at all or want to know if they are getting the most suitable parasite treatment, give us a call at the practice!
