My name is Pamela Jack and Buddies Dog Home Boarding is situated on a real working sheep farm of several hundred acres, at the foot of the rugged Campsie Fells. Your dog will be able to have extensive lead walks through our livestock fields, as well as off lead supervised playtime in our large country garden. Your dog will have their own overnight accommodation, with a selection of dog beds provid

ed, underfloor heating, a basket full of toys, and even their own television and radio. We use lavender oil diffusers to help calm and soothe worried guests, and of course snuggles and treats ( if allowed!)
I have several years of veterinary nursing experience from before my near three decades of NHS employment as a midwife, so you can be reassured that your dog will get the best care that I can provide. I'm not aiming to be the biggest, or the fanciest dog boarding establishment, just the best. I can offer tailored care for your dog's needs, built around your dog's usual daily routine. Your dog will share our family home with myself, farmer husband Gordon. We also have our own dog Russell Jack the Jack Russell, our two cats Luna and Minty, and just over the fence are our horse and pony Clyde and Pearl. Buddies Dog Home Boarding is fully insured with Petplan Sanctuary. I hold a Diploma in Canine First Aid. I am licensed with North Lanarkshire Council for dog home boarding (HB/60/23). If you wish your dog to enjoy a stay with us, please contact me to arrange a "meet and greet" at the earliest available opportunity and ensure that you are happy with the facilities provided. I DO NOT accept bookings without ensuring that your dog is compatible with mine for the health and wellbeing of both parties. It's been a toasty hot Sunday for these wee dogs, the lines are full of washing and they're enjoying the coolness of the late afternoon. They ran about daft this morning as the heat began to build, and had thoroughly tired themselves out by lunchtime, so indoors we went to enjoy the cool and the shade, and they both enjoyed a siesta!
Sadly for us it's wee Harley's last full day here, she's going home tomorrow morning and we're all going to miss this feisty little dog! She's a big personality wrapped up in a little dog!

Harley was not enjoying the strong winds today, Russell did not like the rain showers that blew along the valley, so all in all we've been in and out to the garden like a peep of gas, and for a while we watched the rain blow horizontally. Despite this I got two lots of laundry dried on the washing lines, albeit with double the amount of pegs! While I'm busy hanging out the washing, Russell chases his Boomer ball around the garden, with wee Harley in hot pursuit, they really are comical and when they start barking I can hear other dogs joining in for miles around! I wonder if their owners find it as comical as I do, chuckling to myself!

Our garden is cool and shady, and it's perishing cold in the wind! Harley and Russell don't mind though as long as the rain stays away, they're both quite happy romping around in the breeze! It's a bit unlucky for us that all the sunshine tonight is concentrated on our sheep field over the fence, but Farmer Gordon will be happy as it'll be helping the grass grow for the winter silage crop, in two or three weeks hopefully it'll be getting cut!

My goodness, even I felt the cold today! Is it still summer? Did autumn arrive early?Harley and Russell decided to have a sit in after all the rain this afternoon, they were not keen to emerge even though the rain had stopped after tea! I must admit, there is something very soothing about sitting indoors and watching the rain blow along our valley, hiding the nearby villages from view and swathing the Campsies in low lying clouds, but it's not so nice trying to coax intransigent little dogs out to do the necessary!

We've had some sun, some rain ( horizontal) , and throughout it all strong winds that would blow you over! We're just making the most of our outdoor time when it's dry, and definitely not venturing far from the house! The field grass is long enough now to be a definite irritant for their wee tummies, and they've both been itchy as a result so our short garden grass is ideal for a good run around between showers!
Those clouds though, I don't think the rain can be very far away!

For a short while this afternoon we had glorious warm sunshine, and with a band of rain moving in from the west, boy did we make the most of it! After yesterday's downpours Harley and Russell were relishing the outdoors once again, and despite our soft, clover rich grass in the garden and even a comfy summer bed by the fence, wee Russell chose to sprawl out on the sun warmed gravel, and have himself 40 winks! Harley has a lot more sense, making herself comfortable on the cool grass!

The hills have vanished! We're out in the garden, and it's raining, but it's drier than it's been all day, and trying to tempt these wee dogs out has been a job in itself. However we've enjoyed a lazy day with indoor playtime in between naps and every now and then we've ventured to the back door to watch the rain hammering down! Russell and Harley don't like that so much, as it bounces off the top step into their wee faces! As we enjoy a little time out in the garden I can hear the Queenzie Burn roaring past at the other side of the horses' field, there must have been a heck of a rainfall!

Our field grass is getting long, and while that's fine ( at the moment! ) for 5'1" of me, these wee dogs don't like it quite so much! I can't imagine that grass tickling your tummy with every footstep feels very nice, especially in the rain, so we're having plenty of time in the garden between the showers! The noise they make running around together is quite fearsome, they don't seem to communicate without shouting at each other! I can't help but chuckle at these two small dogs, making the loudest possible racket!

Wee Harley has settled in today as if she's never been away, and despite the dull day she and Russell have ran about in the garden having fun and barking at our ever present crows! One of the crows has taken to perching on top of the tall corner post in the picture, and it winds Russell up no end! It doesn't even fly away when he's barking, cheeky thing! We enjoyed a glorious day in and out of the garden, for Buddy's last day with us here.
This afternoon we were treated to the sight of two buzzards, swooping and gliding on thermals, hunting the tiny critters disturbed by Farmer Gordon cutting the grass in a nearby field for the winter silage.
However as I watched them I realised that they were getting closer, and lower, and closer to the garden, until they were circling right above the horses' paddock, and it occurred to me that Buddy had vanished into the house, leaving his pal Russell exposed! I imagine from above he probably looks like a plump, tasty rabbit!
Not today buzzards, this puppy is protected! ( By me, not by Buddy! )

I watched Russell and Buddy inching closer to each other in the garden this afternoon, last night they had a bonding experience.
As we settled down to sleep last night, I could see that Russell was becoming distressed, and the cause of that distress? A wee fly, buzzing around in the lampshade! He jumped out of his plushy doughnut bed, crept around the room, and finally settled in a bare wee corner on the hard floor. Well I tried to "extinguish" the wee fly, by this time Buddy was watching with curiosity, I don't think wee flies create so much bother in other households!
As the fly had to all intents and purposes vanished, no doubt lurking until I was comfortable again, I lifted Russell and tucked him into bed under the duvet and settled in beside him. Light off, and time to sleep! Buddy clearly thought this looked like a very cosy arrangement, so he decided to join us! No Buddy, three in the bed is most definitely a crowd!

Last night our walk was dull, dreich, and damp, and neither Buddy nor Russell much appreciated leaving our cosy dry cottage, even if it was essential! The world seemed so green and fresh, with the smell of rain dampened grass filling our noses, and every footstep through the lengthening grass and thick swathes of clover threw up many tiny white moths, like living confetti. As we turned and headed back home, the Campsies were shrouded in rain, thankfully it wasn't as heavy down in our field.

Although it was dull for most of the day, it was close and unpleasant and we retreated indoors to the comfort of an electric fan. Later in the afternoon we were able to enjoy a bit longer in the garden, and Russell and Buddy ran around in the coolness of the breeze, their earlier fatigue shaken off! Now however the rain has arrived, a light drizzle gently coating the grass but rendering these two boys unable to cross the threshold!

Both Russell and Buddy enjoyed a glorious warm sunny day in the garden, Buddy making himself comfortable outside with his blanket! I'm guessing he thought it might get cold, but on the contrary it was balmy and fine after a misty start, and it's still warm here now in the evening sunlight.
Our precious little bee came visiting just before lunch, and was making herself very busy on the thistles on the other side of the fence, and you can clearly see the full pollen sacs, called corbiculae, on her back legs. How wonderful to be able to see this microcosm of nature so closely!

We had our evening walk under a tumultuous sky, riven with bursts of sunlight between thick, heavy clouds, and now that we're back in the garden I feel that the rain isn't far away. Buddy and Russell are barking at our resident crows, who have taken to sitting on the apex of our roof and tormenting the dogs with their presence! You tell them Buddy!

Buddy and Russell enjoyed romping in the garden for most of the day, as it was fine and dry, with occasional sunshine drying up last night's rain. Our walk before teatime started off promising, but the sky got darker very quickly and I could see a wall of rain heading our way from the west! Our two cuties Buddy and Russell tired themselves out this morning while it was dry, despite the dense iron grey clouds that constantly threatened to rain! The rain eventually appeared after lunch, as I set about the back garden with my new weeding implements that had just arrived, and after clearing half a dozen thistles and some stingy nettles from the fence line we called it a day and headed indoors to dry off. Buddy and Russell made themselves comfortable and settled down to sleep, clearly the best course of action on a rainy Friday!

We've all enjoyed a lovely, lazy day today, and despite having my alarm set as always this morning, neither Glen nor Russell wanted to go out! I was happy with an extra 10 minutes in bed to adjust to the land of the living, while Russell dreamed on and Glen turned himself around in his comfy basket and settled right back down again!

We're very lucky to have such a good sized garden for our guests to run around in, and they love nothing more than chasing a ball or a squeaky toy, but for Russell it's bubbles! He runs around snapping and biting at them, and once they've all popped, he just wants more! Glen doesn't seem to understand why he prefers something so fleeting compared to a good, tangible ball that he can grab and squeak to his heart's content, but just like people our dogs are individuals with their own preferences, likes and dislikes. Today it became quite hot, quite quickly, and while that's great for drying laundry it's not so good for the dogs! They enjoyed a walk early this morning before the heat built too much, and after that we had wee short bursts in the garden until the sun moved round to give us some shade, it was fiery when the clouds parted! We all need a lazy day sometimes, and Glen and Russell are no exception! As I waited for a grocery order and our Evri driver to bring me a Pooch and Mutt order of yummy chewy dog treats, I got the chance to put my feet up for a wee while and both dogs took some time out to get comfortable! Glen gave himself a back massage with the chunky knotty rope, while Russell meditated next to me on the sofa! Our therapeutic time out didn't last too long as a cacophony of barking heralded the arrival of the Co-op delivery man!

Today was relentlessly dull, but dry, so Glen and Russell enjoyed walks and garden time aplenty, however the highlight of all our day was when the inimitable Jaclynn returned for a visit and entertained us all! Glen met Jaclynn last week when she came to see us and she's his best friend whilst she throws a ball! Russell of course entertains himself with his Boomer ball, but he appreciates Jaclynn giving it a kick for him! Russell and Jaclynn go way back, but he doesn't mind sharing his friend with Glen, however after much ball throwing and ball chasing, both dogs ground to a halt, exhausted!

The rain which had been forecast for the last few days finally arrived, and with a vengeance! Our day began dry and warm, and we made the most of our field and garden, both Glen and Russell enjoying chasing a selection of balls and squeaky toys, and me laying waste to the laundry! We watched the clouds rolling in and the sky grew steadily darker, threatening our enjoyment, until eventually after lunchtime the heavens opened and delivered their promised deluge! Still, we have a great supply of new toys so even when we have to stay indoors, the dogs will be well entertained!

Love is in the air! 💝 Looks like Russell and Minty have been caught having a 'moment'! 💕 Whether you're a valentine, galentine, or like Russell and Minty, palentines, I hope love is all around for our wonderful Buddies customers and followers!

This Christmas Mabel has come to stay again at Buddies! She's a sweet little lady who's ever so slightly different from our usual Buddies guests! She belongs to my eldest son Gordon and daughter in law Becky, and it's just lovely to have our family complete for Christmas time! Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas! 🐱❤️🎄🎁🎅🏻

We're all ready for Christmas here at Buddies, so I'd like to say a HUGE thank you to my fabulous Buddies clients for being so patient, understanding, supportive and kind during this very difficult year. Some of you may know that I've been treated for breast cancer, we as a family have also had to cope with my eldest son having cancer too. The kindness you have shown me has been incredible, and I'm immensely grateful. People were offered the opportunity to cancel but kept their bookings with me, so that I wasn't without income. Your messages of support have meant the world to me. Thank you all, and I wish you all the very best Christmas possible, and a wonderful New Year. 😊❤️🐶🎄🎉

Dog diaries 🐶 We have enjoyed or endured every conceivable variation of weather since Jessie, Senga and Morag arrived at Buddies last week, today it was the turn of heavy rainfall and none of the dogs appreciated it! Russell of course has a debilitating aversion to bad weather, so he's in good company with these three. Tonight we are hiding from the rain and the wind and the seasonal coolness, in the gentle glow of fairy lights festooned around our large crate. It looks like it might still be too bright for one wee dog, sound asleep using a feeding bowl for an eye mask!

We had lots of fireworks in our nearby village last night, fortunately Russell doesn't bother too much however in case they're worse tonight, he has a 'Guy Fox' toy to distract him! We'll have the curtains closed, radio or television on, and plenty of safe spots for him to go to if needed.

Double, double, toil and trouble! Fire burn, and cauldron bubble! 'Bones' is visiting tonight for Halloween, hope everyone has a lovely celebration tonight! Stay safe folks! 👻🎃🧙🏻

Dog diaries 🐶 Today we have a motion picture extravaganza! Filmed in technicolour! Surround sound! Russell and Glen starring in "Escape from the Towering Shed"! Russell here plays the role of the heroic Steve McQueen, sounding the alarm and saving the day, whilst Glen is the suave and handsome Paul Newman, Clyde is Gene Hackman playing a lay preacher, and little Pearl of course is the motherly Shelley Winters. In our entertainment feature, a lamb escapes from the shed where our newly parturient ewes are housed, the ewe can be heard calling to the lost soul. The lamb meanwhile is seen romping on a dangerously steep ridge beyond the safety of the shed, Russell barks to sound the alarm, and Clyde and Pearl bravely step into the fray. Glen oversees the proceedings. Farmer Gordon ( Richard Chamberlain) is the smooth antihero who informs me that the lambs are always popping in and out of the shed, there is no emergency, and the lamb is in no peril at all! Cue theme tune, cut! 🎶🎬
