Buddies Dog Home Boarding

Buddies Dog Home Boarding We offer boarding for small dogs within our family home, fully tailored to your pets' requirements. and our grown up children Donald and Katie.

My name is Pamela Jack and Buddies Dog Home Boarding is situated on a real working sheep farm of several hundred acres, at the foot of the rugged Campsie Fells. Your dog will be able to have extensive lead walks through our livestock fields, as well as off lead supervised playtime in our large country garden. Your dog will have their own overnight accommodation, with a selection of dog beds provid

ed, underfloor heating, a basket full of toys, and even their own television and radio. We use lavender oil diffusers to help calm and soothe worried guests, and of course snuggles and treats ( if allowed!)
I have several years of veterinary nursing experience from before my near three decades of NHS employment as a midwife, so you can be reassured that your dog will get the best care that I can provide. I'm not aiming to be the biggest, or the fanciest dog boarding establishment, just the best. I can offer tailored care for your dog's needs, built around your dog's usual daily routine. Your dog will share our family home with myself, farmer husband Gordon. We also have our own dog Russell Jack the Jack Russell, our cat Minty, and just over the fence are our horse and pony Clyde and Pearl. Buddies Dog Home Boarding is fully insured with Petplan Sanctuary. I hold a Diploma in Canine First Aid. I am licensed with North Lanarkshire Council for dog home boarding (HB/60/23). If you wish your dog to enjoy a stay with us, please contact me to arrange a "meet and greet" at the earliest available opportunity and ensure that you are happy with the facilities provided. I DO NOT accept bookings without ensuring that your dog is compatible with mine for the health and wellbeing of both parties. The earlier you book for a meet and greet the better, as you will then have time to book an alternative if our dogs can't get along and I am unable to accept your booking. Your dog must be-
Fully vaccinated including Kennel Cough
Microchipped
Wearing a collar with an up to to date identification tag with your details to comply with Control of Dogs Order 1992

We look forward to meeting you!

It's been a dull, grey sort of a day, the sunshine teased us through heavy grey clouds, clouds which just as quickly swallowed up the light and left us wondering if we had imagined it. Senga, Jessie and Morag however enjoyed time in the garden a-plenty, watching Clyde and Pearl through the fence and wee Morag and Jessie loving their zoomies in massive figures of eight around the grass! Russell and Farmer Gordon took themselves to the other end of the farm for some man time away from all the ladies, and yes I do count myself as one of the ladies! Upon Russell's return, he decided outdoors had become too 'weathery' and refused to join in!

Today's dry weather meant lots of garden time for Senga, Jessie and Morag, and our current abundance of molehills is providing great entertainment for them! They're also intrigued by the ultrasonic mole spikes which have been put in the ground, they create a variety of noises and flash at night, and it's so funny to see them stop mid run, c**k their heads to the side, and then carry on when the noise stops! One cheeky mole has thrown up a new molehill right next to one of the spikes so they don't seem to be doing a very good job, but at least they're keeping our guests happy!

Senga, Jessie and Morag have settled in so well over the course of the day, and Russell is taking the presence of these beautiful little ladies all in his stride! We can't move in the dog's room for beds, they stretch from one side of the room to the other as they like to swap around all the time, they know how to make themselves comfortable!

These three little pom poms have come back to Buddies for a spring holiday, welcome back Senga, Jessie and Morag! The cuteness level here is overwhelming!

Sweet Glen goes home tomorrow, but for the remainder of the day we'll be enjoying his company. As I opened the back door to start filling the horse water buckets, Glen ran out to get a toy, and Russell reversed so quickly I thought he was going to take my knees out! A flurry of hailstones made the back steps crispy to walk on, and Russell remained content to supervise his friend from the comfort of the doormat!
Well all be looking forward to Glen's next visit here, but we'll miss this gorgeous boy until then!

The bitter cold persists, and we all got bundled up for our afternoon walk. Since we were all cosy in warm coats, and the ground was dry and comfortable for walking, we did a tour of the many, many molehills around the sheep field, allowing Russell the chance to dig, dig, dig! Poor Glen only looks on firstly with confusion, then with boredom, but whenever we stop he knows he'll get a wee treat, my pockets are always full!

As we had our morning walk I thought the hills looked faintly dusted with snow, but without wearing my glasses it was hard to tell. It was bitterly cold though, and as we returned to the house there were snowflakes dancing in the air. It didn't amount to much, although it was persistent, and after breakfast when I was filling the horse water buckets the snow was still falling, it was so pretty!
I'm so glad I managed to get a picture of the dogs playing in the snow!

EDIT- apologies as I thought I had posted this last night! Thankfully Facebook saved it as a draft! πŸ˜–

We enjoyed a lovely walk this afternoon while it was fine and dry, a cool wind from the east chilling us, and we were glad to return to the warmth of the house. Glen just loves a squeaky toy, holding it in his mouth with his paws to get maximum squeak factor! Russell on the other hand will ragdoll his toys, tossing them and fetching them, then he rolls about on top to make the squeak work!
We seemed to have a competition between the two of them, Russell gave it his all, but Glen was the outright winner with top notch squeak ability! What a racket, it's a good thing we don't have neighbours!

There was a flurry of snow last night as Glen and Russell were in the garden for their late night ablutions, delicate and graceful snowflakes dancing in the light at the back door of the house, so it was mildly disappointing to open the curtains this morning to see...green grass! We went out for a walk in the field, taking a wide margin around the geese waddling about, and it wasn't until we turned to head for home that I saw that the Campsies were white! So the snow did lie, just not down here on the valley floor!

Happy St Valentine's day to all! Russell and Glen whilst not romantically linked still enjoyed a little festive loving...of their dinner! Some Love-ly Lamb Pooch and Mutt heart shaped treats were scattered over their tea tonight, and it didn't take long for them to scarf them down! After our walk in almost freezing temperatures this afternoon they were ready for a 'hearty' meal!

The crows were back with a vengeance today, but wee Russell was on top form, scattering them all heavenwards as he took off into their midst! For a small dog with short little legs he can cover a fair stretch of ground very quickly, but not as quick as the crows' ability to take off as one, always an impressive sight when there's a large number of them!
Glen decided to sit and watch, curtailed by his lead, but he knows if Russell comes back to me when he's called there's a treat ready for both of them! Tummy love!
PS- Russell is in this picture, but I don't have any prizes if you spot him! πŸ˜‚

The grass in the field is so burnt by the cold wind, and spring still seems such a long way off but it's just around the corner now. We were all bundled up for our dank and drizzly walk this afternoon, and the clouds were low, thick, and grey, the easterly wind showing no signs of letting up. Even the crows were hiding out of the weather and neither Glen nor Russell were bothered when we turned to head back home, they didn't even want to play in the garden! When we got back inside the gate and I had taken Glen's lead off, he chased Russell right to the back door and they waited for me to catch up with them, keen to be back indoors out of the cold!

The cold wind continues and although Glen and Russell are happy enough romping around the garden it's nice to come in and get heated up! Playtime carries on unabated, this wee cannonball and big hooligan laying waste to the living room as they swap toys and career around the furniture! It's so funny to watch them play, both so different yet they get along so well, Glen with a mouthful of toy to chew and Russell ragdolling his toys and throwing them across the room! Watch that you don't break the TV Russell!

Dog diaries 🐢
This afternoon the crows were back in the field, like an undulating carpet of black feathers, the sheep like living pom poms in the distance. Neither Glen nor Russell showed much interest in either of them, Russell slinking along to stay out of the cold wind as much as possible, and Glen finding scents in the tussocks of tough field grass.
As we made our way across the top of the field, bolstered by the wind, we could hear geese in the field across the road, honking and chattering on the hillside, an occasional lone goose or pair swooping in to join the throng, struggling against the gusts that whipped at my coat. A hint of rain hastened our walk back to the house, and both dogs were glad to get back indoors, back to the warmth and comfort.

Dog diaries 🐢
The wind today would have cut us all in half, it was so cold! As we headed out for a walk in the field we were met with the sight of dozens of crows and the noise from them was incredible! They were all plodding around where the sheep get fed, not that the sheep leave much for the crows to scavenge, but they'll find the odd crumb too small for the sheep to eat. Russell usually likes to chase the crows when they land in the field, but there were so many that even he seemed a bit intimidated! It's quite something when there's such a volume of these biggish birds, especially when they all take flight together, the sky was black for a moment or two!

Dog diaries 🐢
Glen was so tired last night after his first day here at Buddies, but he awoke refreshed and when we finally got Russell out of his bed it was time for a walk out in the field. The sheep had all moved to the bottom half of the field, beyond the hedge along the middle, so we had a lovely long walk with plenty of scope for Glen, Russell, and myself. In the south there was golden sunshine and we could feel the warmth of the sun despite the bitter easterly wind, but to the north the Campsies had a blanket of low, dense cloud throwing specks of rain at us, threatening but not amounting to much. It was good to get back indoors though, it's so cold!
