During lockdown, our dogs have gotten used to having us around. They have no concept of covid19 and to them, this quite simply is, how life is now.
When we go back to work and resume our lives, many dogs will find the change quite distressing and could suffer separation anxiety (even if previously, they were happy to chill while you were out).
Some younger dogs may never even have been left alone before.
To help your little one adjust, now is a good time to start preparing them. Leaving them for periods during the day, is a great way to start.
A key part of this, is to create a good no fuss routine of leaving the house. Even for just a short while at first.
I personally am guilty of giving my dogs treats, Pat's, kisses, cuddles, promising I'd be back soon etc...in the attempt to provide comfort before I left.
Little did I know, that this actually makes things worse for your dog.
Making a fuss before a lengthy departure conditions your dog to know that after you go, they are alone for a long time.
If you keep the same routine for all departures, this will help your pooch realise that even though you are gone, you could be back any second.
Most will then take advantage of the opportunity to top up their sleep in preparation of your return.

Your dog will be collected and travel in the van to a chosen walk route (possibly stop to pick up a few more pals along the way).
Spend a minimum of one full hour: walking, running, exploring, playing with friends, having a blast and burning off all but a days worth of energy (unless you have a spaniel/lab/collie or other such high energy dog, in which case, they'l need more!)

As a dog walker, the safety and wellbeing of all dogs in my care is of paramount importance (when they are with me, they are my pups) and so, all dogs must be up to date with flea, tick and worming treatment and vaccinated against all of the following:

Parvovirus
Parainfluenze
Leptospirosis
Distemper
Hepatitis

As a dog walker I have to think about this stuff. As a dog owner, I spent about twenty years not even knowing about most of it!

My first dog Sampson, got his jags as a pup, that was it.
He lived to be 21 years old, 147 in dog years and never got ill, or got fleas. He was a wolf, in a Yorkshire terriors body.
From him, I based my belief that dogs did not need human intervention as much as we may think (or be led to believe).
Sadly those days are gone.
Like our food, pet food too has largely been altered and moved far from natural, causing allergies and a weakened immune systems.

For me, it was the bugs and nasties found in stagnant water (the kind of stuff my dogs LOVES to be in) that forced me to accept she needed kept up to date with vaccinations.

Another thing to note, is that should your dog fall fowl of something (possibly) preventable by vaccine. If they are not officially up to date with their treatments, your insurance company can decline to assist in the payment of massively over priced vet bills. They may not even inform you of their payment refusal until you are deep in debt.
