Meet Chris! 👋
Chris joined The Vererinary Centre as a locum vet in early 2023 and having locumed consistently with us has decided to join us as a permanent member of staff. Chris is from Ireland and studied Veterinary Medicine in UCD, Dublin, graduating in 2017. He started as vet working in a busy small animal hospital in Birmingham. Following this he has worked in several places including two years in New Zealand. Chris has interest in internal medicine and dentistry. In his spare time he enjoys hillwalking and is a keen fly fisherman. He plays Gaelic (Irish) football for a team in Glasgow and enjoys watching Rugby.

We try our best to provide annual pet vaccination reminders to all of our clients via text message and email. To reduce paper wastage, we no longer post out paper reminders.
While we make every effort to ensure all clients receive a reminder as a courtesy, please note it is the owner’s responsibility to ensure their pet is fully vaccinated.
In order to ensure you receive a reminder, please check we have an up to date email and mobile number on record.

❗️REMINDER: Bonfire Night is less than 2 weeks away. Some medications only work when given in advance, and some also require a prescription consultation with a vet, so please contact the surgery ASAP if you require medication for your pet!❗️

🐾We are quickly approaching the time of year that many pet owners dread- Bonfire Night.
🐾The lead up to Bonfire Night can be very traumatic for dogs and other pets that are sensitive to sound.
🐾With around 40% of the UK’s dogs being scared of fireworks, it’s very important to plan ahead to ensure your pet feels calm and safe.

🎆There are many tips to help to keep your pet’s stress levels low, for example:
1. Walk your dog before it gets dark
2. Create a safe den for your dog to retreat to
3. Play some calming background music
4. Shut doors and windows, and draw curtains

💊However if you have previously tried everything and your dog is still stressed then you should consider consulting your vet. There are products licensed for use with fireworks phobias that may help to reduce anxiety. Some of these medications are more effective when used in advance, so we advise getting in touch with plenty of notice before 5th November.

❗️*Please note if your pet has not had a check up in the last 6 months a prescription check with a vet may be required*❗️

🔥Bonfire night is quickly approaching🔥

❗️If your pet is fearful of fireworks, please enquire about calming medication as soon as possible❗️

We are able to prescribe herbal medications like Nutracalm over the counter (please order in advance to ensure availability), but some stronger medications require an appointment with a vet.
