Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is a national charity that trains dogs toalert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds like the smoke alarm, alarm clock and even a baby’s cry. Their burgundy coats also act as a visual reminder to the public when they are out and about that their partner is deaf.

As most people would have seen on our socials or in practice our chartiy of the year was Guide Dogs UK!
So here is an update from our head office💛

“In total this year cvs practices have raised £68,000 for guide dogs. this was £16,000 in cash which was rounded to £20,000 by CVS and £48,000 through our pennies scheme”🩵

We just wanted to say a massive thankyou to everyone who donated no matter how small! We hope for a good outcome like this for our new charity of the year🥰

Unlike us, pets have no understanding that hot weather can be harmful. We control their environment, their access to water and their exercise, and they can’t speak up if they start feeling unwell.
Heat stroke can rapidly progress and, even with veterinary treatment, is often fatal.

Heat stress starts as a reversible condition, but if not managed it will develop to heat stroke, which is extremely dangerous.
If your pet shows any of these signs, they should be moved to a cool area and offered plenty of water to drink.

Flystrike happens more often in warm weather, and in rabbits who have soiled fur (often due to poor diet, obesity or arthritis).🪰

Throughout the spring and summer rabbits must be checked twice daily and any soiled fur cleaned. If you find any sign of fly eggs or maggots you must arrange for your
rabbit to see a vet as soon as possible.

Since you cannot check your rabbit’s teeth at home, it is important to look out for signs of dental disease🐰🦷

There are many things that you can look out for that might indicate that your rabbit has some sort of dental health issue.

If you notice any of these signs, it is important that you bring your rabbit to your vet for an oral assessment as soon as possible.

Stopping eating altogether is an emergency.

Handsome boy Clyde loving his pet remedy in practice today🥰🥰

🐰RABBIT AWARENESS Michael the rabbit was in for castration surgery last week🥰 Unlike cats and dogs rabbits are not required to be starved prior to their prior to their surgery. They are encouraged to continue eating up until the time of their operation and as soon as they are in recovery. We advise owners to provide their rabbits own food for the procedure along with their favourite veg. Rabbits will not be discharged until our staff are happy that they are eating and passing faeces. If needed staff can syringe feed rabbits to encourage eating during their recovery. 🐰POST OPERATIVE CARE🐰 Once discharged rabbits should be keep indoors and separate from any other rabbits in the household but still be keep nearby so they are still able to see and smell each other. Males should be continued to be kept separate from unneutered female rabbits for a period of 8 weeks as they are still fertile during this time. Bedding should to be changed to paper or towel bedding to avoid shavings sticking to the wound. We still require rabbits to see our nurses for their post op check on day 3,7 and 10. Should rabbits stop eating or passing faeces then an emergency appointment would be required‼️ *this applies to day to day life not just after procedures* Thankfully due to out close care Michael was recovered and eating well, ass seen in the video🥰 and later discharged home back to his own comforts😊 He has had a great recovery and our nurses are very happy with him🐰 **if anyone is looking for more advice on caring for their rabbits or just generla questions please get in contact with the practice, we are always happy to help😊**

We are now a recognised silver awarded Isfm cat friendly practice. We offer Health Care Packages such as our senior package for pets over 7 years as well as our budgeting plan Healthy Pet Club. We aim to treat your pets as we would our own and our small friendly team is dedicated to providing the best possible care for you and your pet.

We are a member of ISFM and follow their guidelines on all aspects of cat handling and care .
