🐶 Happy National Dog Day!

Have you ever wondered how long dogs have been with us? We are fortunate that man's best friend has been with us for at least 15,000 years! It's time to post pictures and enjoy cake to celebrate our canine companions. 🎂🎉

We are a unique and award winning charity tackling loneliness and social isolation for older adults, via animal companionship and friendship.

We do this via 2 projects:

1) We support older adults on low income to afford a rescue pet companion by paying the initial rehoming fee and continuing to support monthly with insurance fees/pet food costs. It's a WIN/WIN - the person gets a friend and the animal gets a home! This project is UK wide 🌈

2) We have 3 community spaces across Scotland - Shawlands, Troon and Alloa. This project is called 'Companionship in the Community'. Here we offer a safe space for older adults to learn new skills, make new friends and mix with dogs ❤️

Project number 1 enables older adults to adopt a pet companion, where money is a barrier.

Project number 2 recognises that not all older adults want, or are able to have, a pet - and allows our visitors to spend time with our very special team of Companionship Dogs.

We also provide free Zoom activities for older adults meaning those not close to one of our Community Spaces can still join in and feel a sense of community 🤩

We are a grassroots charity making a genuine difference in communities ❤

Our staff have named him Panchu.

He was abandoned outside our hospital with a facial wound full of maggots.

With a mange riddled body. Emaciated. Hungry. Thirsty.

This old boy has served someone his whole life.
He's made money for them.
He's put food on their table.
But now he's old, sick and injured he's thrown away like a piece of rubbish - a car that has broken down or a TV that no longer works - a sentient, feeling being.

When you see animals working for tourist purposes, when you stand in line to take a ride, to watch the show, to snap the selfie and have an adventure..... remember what you are paying for.

Panchu only came to us 3 days ago and right now we don't know what his future will hold.... he might be paying with his life.

It's intensive work to try and save such small, fragile souls....
Cow's milk causes diarrhoea in small pups and so to give them the very best chance of survival we HAVE to feed them specialised powered PUPPY MILK. It's their only chance....

THE FIRST OF MANY....

Our year here is marked by the animals in our care.... monsoon is finished and so the vehicle accident dogs become less as the cases of maggot wounds increase and right after that we are head first into puppy season when the sick, abandoned and orphaned from just a few days old start to arrive in their hundreds.
Tiny pups like these need feeding every couple of hours. If they are weak or very small then our nurturing team feed them with a syringe, stimulate them to go to the toilet, clean them up and make them warm to get them to sleep as their mother would have. It's intensive work to try and save such small, fragile souls....

MASSIVE NEWS!!!! WE ARE MOVING!!! JULY IS YOUR LAST CHANCE EVER TO VISIT US HERE!!

Yes, its true!! After 5 wonderful years here at The nOg, the time has come for us to move to our very own forever home! Plans are afoot, details of the move will be shared as soon as its all finalised, but rest assured we won't be going far 😊🥰

It does mean tho that the month of July will be your last chance EVER to visit us here at this beautiful little place we have created, so if you've been thinking about coming or fancying coming back, this is your last opportunity to book!

We will be CLOSED from 1st August to dismantle the site and carry out the big relocation!
