Having a fab weekend so far at UKFL flyball champs. Our dogs have been amazing on Friday with 2 second place wins in the pairs a 4th and 1st in the singles. Saturday we had our pre cadet slots and used these for some fab training and racing our dogs against each other. Great company although the weather is a bit rubbish. It hasn't spoiled our fun .

A wee reminder of holiday dates. I will be off from the 1st to 9th August. CeCe, Merry, Eabha and I are heading off to our first UKFL Championships. We are super excited and I am so proud of CeCe and the team 🥰🥰🥰

Super proud mum today. Flyball at Errol in Perth yesterday and Cece and her team won 5 out of 6 races and came first in their Division. Also a new personal best team time of 23 seconds. What an amazing achievement. Super proud of all the team of dogs and handlers. A big shout out also to Eabha one of the dogs I walk and have been training in flyball. Also part of this winning team.

Yesterday we had two PC
spots - bet, olly and Phoebe

Olly giving us some nice high board work, Bet driving well and working back to Kelly every time, little Phoebe who no one knew how she would cope with the new environment took to it in her stride working well to the board and jumps.

PC 2 - brodhi, Winnie and swift

Brodhi did amazing in keeping his head even when working around other dogs on the outside really nice box work all day.
Winnie(🫣) done well in the quieter lanes driving away/back with her ball, the noisy lane was just a bit much and she lost her mind a bit, lots to do there, swift as per was just swift making as much noise and enjoying racing on flat recalls, tho she did sneak a box turn 🫢

Streamlined n Focused....

These pups blew our mind yesterday and done us more than proud, taken 5 out of 6 clean races, a time of 23s and a first place🥇

Cece - Cece as always was an awesome start dog, getting some good start times and holding her turn, will work on her drive back.

Valley - our little height dog in the team clearly has a favorite side, running paw perfect in the morning in the red lane lost it a bit in the blue but always pulls it together in the end.

Eabha - this girl ran paw perfect all day apart from the one leg I showed her tug too early, constant in her times and nice box turns, the biggest take away though is that she was happy to let me handlers all day and didn't bat an eye about it 🎉

Breagha - this little one first LL outing and she took it on her stride, driving down well and coped really well with dogs she didn't know on the other side, just need to work on her popping out and her drive back

Deeka - was brought along last minute to get used to the environment, though a little unsure we managed to get a little done in the warm up with her, bring the ball back over 3 jumps, so much potential in this little dog and we will see what the next few months hold.

And lastly massive shout-out to our box loader molly, really helped shout the dogs up and down, done well for you first time box loading for a comp it is the most important and stressful part at times

We know what we need to work on for next time but today dogs and handlers are enjoying a rest day 👏👏👏👏

This is very important advice and not many people know the setiousness of it. As CeCe participates in a lot of sport I have to structure her meals and rest around any and all excersise. During the summer months it is important to keep all the dogs hydrated but to ensure they are not drinking gallons when we are on walks.

Bloat:

I've spoken to a few dog owners who aren't aware of what bloat is, so I want to make a post on it so everyone is aware. I also encourage you to do more research into this.

Bloat is a condition where the stomach fills with gas, food, water. The stomach can easily twist which causes a lot of pain & is life threatening. Bloat can kill your dog within a couple of hours.

Signs of bloat are:
• Swollen, hard belly.
• The dog is retching, but nothing is coming up.
• Drooling.
• Pain in stomach.
• Stress signs such as panting, pacing etc.

If your dog has signs of bloat, you need to get them to a vet ASAP. Like I said above, this can kill your dog within a couple of hours.

How to prevent bloat:
• Slow feeders.
• Rest for at least an hour after meals. (I pop the boys into bed after they've had food from a bowl for a couple of hours).
• Portion meals through out the day, instead of giving one big meal once. (Riots hand fed, which helps prevent bloat as its little & often. Spots meal is split to 2 bowls a day, instead of one big meal).
• "Anti splash" water bowl is good for limiting dogs that usually down a lot of water at once.
• Limit your dogs water intake when out & about. Or if your dog has had a big drink after running around, either lay them down to rest or pop back on lead for calm walking.

Bloat absolutely terrifies me, which is why I always take extra caution with my dogs & client dogs.
If they've just had a bowl of food, or drank a lot of water - their either sent to bed or back on lead (if outside) to avoid running around.

I advise you to do more research into bloat, to prevent this ever happening with your dog.

Good morning All 😊 This morning looking rather glum a very kind sweet friend gave me a wee Easter bunny to cheer me up. This wee act of kindness has made my day. We have named him Bertie the Bunny and he is going to join us on all our walks today. So let's have a bit of fun and I hope it makes you smile, on our walks Bertie will appear in the photos. Some obvious, some not. Let's see who can spot Bertie on our adventures. These ones are obvious but look out for the next ones. Let's go look for Bertie the Easter bunny 😊😊😊😊
