We are excited to introduce you all to the newest member of the team!

Lauren graduated with honours from the University of Glasgow in 2024.
She grew up in Southern California and was inspired to pursue veterinary medicine while volunteering at a local marine mammal rescue.
She loves to learn new things that allow her to offer the best care to pets and their people and is eager to contribute to the Queens Crescent team.

She is very excited to meet you and all your fur babies 😁😁

Here is Lauren with adorable Islay and Jura!

We are proud to be a Tier 2 RCVS Accredited small animal practice.

As a team we are delighted to announce that we passed our recent RCVS inspection for the Practice Standards Scheme. It is optional for veterinary practices to join the scheme and we pay an annual fee to be part of the scheme. The inspections occur on a 4 yearly basis and look at all aspects of our veterinary care and ensures that we are achieving the best of standards and care.

As one of the few small independent practices remaining in Glasgow, it is incredibly rewarding to receive the complimentary comments received from the practice inspector.

Thank you to all the team for all the hard work and dedication.

You are the best!

🐾 Important Update for XL Bully Owners! 🚨

The Scottish Government has announced new regulations concerning XL Bully dogs, which are now in effect.

🔹 What is an XL Bully? An XL Bully is characterized by its large, muscular build, with males standing at least 20 inches and females at 19 inches. They have a blocky head, a broad chest, and a muscular stature.

🔹 New Requirements:
• From February 23, 2024: It is illegal to sell, abandon, give away, or breed XL Bully dogs. All XL Bullies must be muzzled and on a leash in public areas and must be microchipped.
• By July 31, 2024: Owners must secure a Certificate of Exemption, ensuring their dogs are microchipped, neutered, and covered by third-party insurance.
• Dogs aged 18 months or older on 31 July 2024 will need to be neutered by 31 January 2025.
• For dogs younger than 18 months on 31 July 2024, evidence of neutering must be provided to the Scottish Government by 31 January 2025 or within one month of your dog reaching the age of 18 months.

🔹 Preparing Your Dog:
• Muzzle Training: Start getting your XL Bully accustomed to a muzzle as early as possible. Introduce the muzzle in a positive, reward-based manner to make it a stress-free experience for your dog.
• Health Compliance: Ensure your dog is microchipped and neutered according to the new legal requirements. Our clinic offers these services, helping ensure you meet the compliance deadlines.

🔹 Certificate of Exemption: Owners need to apply for an exemption certificate by July 31, 2024. This certificate is crucial for legally owning an XL Bully. Applications can be made online or by post, with a fee of £92.40. Our staff can guide you through this process and ensure you have all the necessary paperwork in order.

🔹 Stay Informed: For further details on how to comply with these regulations, visit the Scottish Government’s official XL Bully Guidance.

We understand that these changes may be challenging, but we are here to support you and your pet every step of the way. If you have any questions or need assistance with meeting these new requirements, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Dear Clients,

As you may well be aware, the Competition and Marketing Authority have released an interim report into the veterinary industry.

As one of the few remaining small animal, independent veterinary practices in Glasgow, we welcome the investigation into the competition. We do not own any crematoria, nor referral centres, or any buying groups. As an individual and independent practice we have no constraints as to where we refer and we always aim to provide the best level of care, with good financial value for all our patients

The pricing of medication is controlled by the pharmaceutical companies, wholesalers and buying groups.
Our veterinary surgeons are duty bound to follow the Veterinary Medicines Regulations when prescribing and must follow the cascade which is a provision that allows vets to prescribe medicines that would not otherwise be permitted.

Sadly, a lot of the veterinary medicines are much more expensive than the human equivalent but the regulations do not allow our vets to prescribe the human equivalent.

We can only request and hope that our clients remember that many of the costs are not controlled at practice level. There is a current shortage of veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses with a high level of drop-out with the profession.

We wish to retain our veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses so please can all our clients be kind and remember the costs are outside the control of the staff.

To help with the challenging times, we are proud to offer the Wellness Plan to all of our clients which offers “Unlimited Consultations” for a monthly fee. This is a unique plan to QCVC and offers clients peace of mind that they can attend the practice as many times as they wish, without the concern of additional costs.

Best wishes
The QCVC Team

🐾 Attention Cat Parents! 🐾

Big news coming your way! 📢 Starting June 2024, it will become law to microchip your feline friends in England. That's right, ensuring your cat has a microchip will soon be just as important as their regular check-ups and cuddle sessions! We expect to see a similar law in Scotland in the near future.

Why microchip? It's simple:

🏠 Quick reunion if they ever get lost
📝 Easy identification for a safer community
🔍 Peace of mind knowing you're one scan away from being reunited
We know changes like this can be a bit overwhelming, but don't worry! We're here to make this transition as smooth as a cat's whisker. 🐱💕

What Can You Do?
Check if your cat is already microchipped. Not sure? Give us a call and we can arrange a scan.
Schedule a microchipping appointment. We've got cuddles and treats to make it a stress-free experience for your kitty.
Spread the word! Let's make sure all our furry friends stay safe and sound.
Remember, it's not just about complying with the law; it's about ensuring the safety and security of your beloved pet. Plus, who wouldn't want to avoid that fine, right?

Questions? Concerns? Curiosities? Pop in, give us a call, or drop us a message. We're all ears and here to help every paw step of the way! 🐾❤️

Stay safe, stay purr-fect,
