Thought it had been a good while since I “featured” on the Sharp Strolls page and maybe it was time to do a little about me and how the business started post.
I’m Aynsley, the face behind Sharp Strolls and the 2 cheeky faces in the photo are my dogs, Ruby and Rosie!
Firstly, which is probably a given is, I love dogs, which you kinda need to run a dog walking business.
I’ve grown up around dogs and horses and they’ve always been a big part of my life.
Knowing that I wanted to work with animals in some capacity, I studied Veterinary Biosciences at University leading into several jobs such as “Chicken Egg testing” , working with an equine cancer specialist and a company selling X-ray and ultrasound equipment for the veterinary industry. Whilst all of these jobs have had their positives I knew I didn’t enjoy the idea of a desk job and went in search of the next thing. I signed up for a “2 day career as a dog trainer” course with the IMDT (Institute of Modern Dog Training) and absolutely loved it. From there I signed up for a few more of their behaviour and training courses as well as a canine first aid course - a memorable one as it was on my 27th birthday.
From there I plucked up the courage to start up Sharp Strolls and haven’t looked back. It’s been an extremely difficult but exciting learning curve over the past 5 years and I am still learning everyday but being out with the dogs each day makes me realise how lucky I am to do this as a job.
Away from the day to day I love my holidays, being near the sea and exploring new places, fitness and running also take up a lot of my time. I am a big foodie and very partial to a rosé wine. But even in my spare time it’s always still “will we meet for a dog walk” between my friends and I, although we do occasionally find ourselves in the pub afterwards 😂🥂
