Is it difficult to identify CPL?

No... Not unless you live in the dark ages or think outdated ðŸ’Đ like cobs legs naturally look like Nora Batty's tights ðŸĪĶ‍♀ïļ

Remember at the seminar last year with the world's premier CPL research vet Dr Marieke Brys when she spoke about the unfortunate fact that vets still wrongly think cobs legs are naturally wrinkly? But they're not, it's not healthy or normal... it is CPL and vets need to self-educate to be able to help their clients.

CPL is an incredibly unique presenting disease. Per the research over decades, it can reliably be diagnosed on physical appearance alone. Here's some more info ⮇ïļ

Scrolling through old albums and remembering where it all started and how things have progressed over the years.

Clipping i started as a kid, my mum got me an old set of Wolseleys from lanark auction market. I didn't know about oiling, tensioning or sharpening blades! ( my poor pony!)
My first new clippers i bought at 16 were Liveryman Mustangs! I was clipping my own ponies and doing favours for friends! I once clipped a mates horse in return for an Easter egg lol. I was just happy to get experience doing others!
My first job i clipped some of the liveries ponies ag the yard. By this point we were already doing some basic designs, hearts, stars, initials, all with my one big clipper! I didn't know smaller ones and trimmers existed at that point!
Fast forward a few years I was running my own business backing youngsters but I only had an outdoor so stopped for winter and took up clipping for a bit of extra cash when I wasn't doing my "proper" job.
Someone sent me a picture of a horse clipped like a zebra from Greta Clip in New Zealand!
She was the first one I ever saw do a whole body creative and i will always be thankful for her inspiring me! I wondered why on earth I'd never thought of this!!!
I did my own version of the zebra on Gip!
I wanted to come up with my own idea so sticking with the animal print theme i turned Cody into a leopard!
And the rest is history i guess!
I was just doing it for the sake of it, testing my skillset, I had no idea how wild things would become!
I had reporters on the phone, papers wanting to do stories on my work! I even ended up doing a telephone interview for American Radio!!! One of the papers used the headline "clipper queen" and that is how I ended up with this name! It started off as a bit of a nickname but after several years of people now knowing me by this name it just stuck and I eventually changed my name on the page.
I got onto prime time tv in the UK!
Then I split from my partner and my life changed forever.
Goodbye yard. Goodbye backing youngsters. I needed to leave and go asap. I had to send all the horses back to owners and refund their money with have broken ponies. But I needed to go.
And there I was with absolutely nothing.
Nothing but my ponies, my dogs, and my clippers.
That's when I decided to make clipping full time. I did more tv work and international interviews for Germany, even Russia!
All this media attention made me look very attractive to potential clients! Everybody wanted to say the clipper queen clipped their pony!

And here we are 12 years now after these two clips that started it all off.
And I still have these boys âĪïļ
But they have no idea what they have done for me by being my canvas over the years!

So yeah.. that's how I became the Clipper Queen!

Thankyou to the media outlets who featured me, thankyou to all my clients who have been with me over the years, and thankyou to my ponies for always being the best canvas for my wacky ideas.. and thankyou to the person that tried to break me all those years ago.. because you just made me realise i was so much stronger on my own two feet.

I had no intention of running for this again..
But my wee pal Hannah over on the CPL group has started the ball rolling to put me forward for Equestrian Business Awards Groom Of The Year 2025.

Thinking back to my win in 2022 and it was such a hard year, recovering financially from lockdown, then the knee injury that kept me on crutches for months just as I was getting back on my feet, buggered everything again!
Then 2023 we had althe appendix gate which led to my EDS diagnosis.
2024 was a bit better. No major injuries!
I'm collecting chronic illnesses like some sort of hoarder tho and truth is, I duno how many more years of this I've got in me... but I'm doing ok atm.. and I'd like another bash at standing on that stage... without crutches this time! And not be doped up on pain killers n give a decent speech lol 😆
