Here at Orchard we have a dental suite, where we perform all comprehensive oral health examinations, scaling, dental x-rays and extractions.

We are lucky enough to have digital dental x-ray, which allows us to see how healthy the tooth roots are and whether extractions or crown amputations are necessary.

Cats are prone to resorptive lesions, a condition in which the immune system destroys the crown and/or root of the tooth. Xrays allow us to see whether the root has been affected and therefore whether extraction is necessary. Xrays also identify other dental problems, such as abscesses.

Did you know that many vets do not offer an out of hours service at their own practice. Many clients have to drive to another town if they need to be seen for an emergency out of the practice opening times. Here at Orchard Vets we see our clients out of hours at our practice with the staff team that you and your pets know and see on their daily visits. This can make a huge difference to our patients especially if they do not have vehicles or have mobility issues. We appreciate that these small things make a big difference.

Our nurses are trained in weight management and can create a weight loss program tailored to your pet's individual needs. We will calculate your pets ideal weight and then give you a plan for safe, sustainable weight loss. We will check your pet's weight every 2-4 weeks, which allows us to make changes where needed to ensure your pet stays on track with their weight loss. Meet Liz who has been working here, in total, for 22 years. When she is not here you will find her galivanting around the world on classic car events. Liz has 2 adorable sibling cats Boris and Ruby and despite being a cat mum is a sucker for a puppy or any dog that wants a biscuit, a cuddle, or both!

Neutered pets are more likely to become obese. Following neutering we will check your pet's weight four weeks later and then advise on the correct diet and amount to feed. 🐶🐶🐶Meet the gorgeous Bella, a Hungarian Vizsla, who came in to visit us for her final vaccination. Obviously, she needed a toy as well! 🐾🐾🐾 We were most impressed with her fetching coat which protected her well against this cold January weather. Who thinks the duck is still in one piece???...🦆🦆🦆
