So, this is Queenie… Queenie has given me 2 handsome boys Crackerjack and Duke so I thought I’d give her a break last year from mum duties and break her to ride….

I’ve spent a year breaking her in and she’s not proved the easiest…. She just refuses to go forward if she doesn’t want to… unless there’s another horse to walk with her… this isn’t possible as I ride early and alone…. I’ve never ever had this issue with any of my others and it’s frustrating when you don’t know whether she’ll cooperate on any given day or not…

She’s a lovely ride when she chooses to be, she’s gentle, a plodder, more whoa than go and has a trot to die for…. I really can’t ask more from her as I do genuinely enjoy riding her… she’s happy for me to walk her miles inhand then hop on and ride home hoof perfect, no questions asked….

Anyway… I’ve been toying with the idea of seeing how she’d feel about being harnessed up and pulling a wagon…. Yesterday (Saturday) I tried her in long reins, her first time ever….

And she was absolutely fabulous! A few attempts at being stubborn but soon gave up…. Walked her 2 miles in the freezing cold then hopped on and rode back… she was fantastic!!!

Sometimes it’s not always what we want a horse to do but about doing what the horse is not only capable of but also happy with…. Fingers crossed Queenie will pull the wagon instead of Lunar as I feel that Lunar’s unpredictability and impatience may cause issues in the future…. Not giving up but just taking a temporary diversion 👌

Well done Queenie, you did me proud 💜

This is looking down towards my yard…. Can the Storms and floods just piss off now…. 😔

I needed to ride…. Managed to finally put my broken foot in the stirrup but only for 5 minutes before the pain got too much… but 5 minutes is a start…. And riding Jim was well worth it…. Can’t believe it’s taking this long for the foot to heal 🙈😭
