Yesterday, Friday 26th July, I drove from Fife to Dumfries, a two and a half hour drive, to marry this gorgeous couple Sally and Stewart.
I had my leggings, shirt and cons on for the journey and was delighted to find the perfect room in the church where I changed into my suit and did my make up an hour before the ceremony was due to start.
Crichton Church looked amazing on this sunny day, flowers were gorgeous and the crowd was gathering outside to catch a glimpse of the wedding party.
Stewart and his best man, who was his dad Roddy, and his four groomsmen were all looking handsome in their kilts standing at the alter awaiting the bride.
Sally's mum Mary, two flower girls and page boy along with her four bridesmaids entered first and they were followed by Sally and her dad Stuart who were piped down the aisle.
After the hugs and handshakes, the ceremony which was filled with love, laughter, a few tears and the very excited golden retriever Frankie got under way.
Eilidh, Stewart's sister stepped forward to say a few words followed by the reading of the wonderful poem, "The Giraffe and the Monkey" by Daniel Thompson.
Stewart and Sally read their vows to each other which brought both tears and laughter from themselves and their guests. The ancient Celtic tradition of handfasting took place using binding to represent both families, the Ancient Hunting Tartan and a piece from Sally's gorgeous wedding dress.
Frankie, their golden retriever came bounding down the aisle to deliver the rings and he was immediately loved by all.
I enjoyed meeting with both Sally and Stewart, getting to know them and writing their ceremony. It really was a privilege.
My colleague Graham was in attendance, as at Celebrate People we believe in ongoing professional development and afterwards we discussed the ceremony over a coffee and I'm delighted to say that Graham gave me full marks and is even going to borrow a few ideas from me. This is what I love about our group, we believe in each other and doing the absolute best for our couples.
Would I drive for five hours to conduct another ceremony? Absolutely! It was an absolute joy and I wish Sally and Stewart all the happiness in life.
