Belated Happy New Year to you all.

It's been a while since I updated my page so over the next few days I'll post some wedding pics I took on my phone last year. 2024 was extremely busy with marriage ceremonies and sadly funeral ceremonies too.

To top everything off I gained a new family member, my gorgeous and intelligent cockapoo puppy, Esme! She has been such a joy but jings she's a handful.

I'm looking forward to working with all my couples this year and creating their marriage ceremonies with them.

Today I have been contacted by two couples looking to see if I was available this year however I was already booked on both the days requested. My one piece of advice is get your celebrant booked as soon as you have decided on a date.

I know I'm hopeless at keeping up to date with technology but this year I aim to do much better so I'm looking at getting a website created. Watch this space.

Take care of yourselves and each other. x

Had the absolute privilege to conduct the marriage ceremony for Steph and Robbie yesterday and what a gorgeous couple they make.
Their boys helped with the handfasting using Granite Tartan and a piece of material from Steph's gorgeous dress and did a wonderful job.
They also drank from the quaich sharing both Irn Bru and Gin with both their dads.
Steph's mum delivered a beautiful reading which she ended with giving the newly weds some wonderful advice.
There was much laughter throughout the ceremony and their guests were amazing. I know the celebration afterwards would have been fun as they were all up for making wonderful memories for Steph and Robbie.
Both Steph and Robbie read their vows to each other and neither knew what the other had written. It was so emotional for everyone and I admit to being emotional too.
Wishing you both all the happiness in life. Thanks for choosing me as your celebrant x💕

Wonderful article in today's Herald written by my colleague Tim.
I've already written and planned my funeral.

I went to a garden party on Sunday, and it was glorious. The sun was out, the ladies were in their floatiest dresses, the canapes were delicious,…

I really do wish that more people would discuss their funeral wishes with their loved ones. I've written mine.

I really do wish that more people would discuss their funeral wishes with their loved ones. I've written mine.

Let’s talk about….death.

It’s not something we want to think about much less talk about but taking some time to discuss with loved ones what you’d like for your final farewell can save a whole lot of stress and worry when the time comes…

Here at we believe in talking about death and dying often - after all it’s something we will all face at one time or another.

Music plays a huge part in and as more and more people choose non-religious funerals songs that people identify with are becoming more popular.

The top 5 funeral songs according to a poll commissioned by Co-op Funeralcare are:
1."My Way" - Frank Sinatra/Shirley Bassey.
2."Wind Beneath My Wings" - Bette Midler/Celine Dion.
3."Time To Say Goodbye" - Sarah Brightman/Andrea Bocelli.
4."Angels" - Robbie Williams.
5."Over The Rainbow" - Eva Cassidy.

And in Sunlife’s 2024 Cost of Dying Report there were some eyebrow raising laugh a minute choices.

Songs played at some of this year’s funerals include:

Lightening the mood:

Busy Bee – Arthur Askey
I Wish I Was in Glasgow – Billy Connelly
Hakuna Matata – Pumbaa and Timon
The Match of the Day theme
The Test Match Cricket theme
Rockin All Over the World – Status Quo
Zorba the Greek – Kostas Papadopoulos
Club Tropicana – Wham
Three Little Birds – Bob Marley & the Wailers
Bye Bye baby – Bay City Rollers

Dark Humour:

Shutdown - Skepta
Back in Black – AC/DC
Livin’ on the Edge – Aerosmith
Back to Black – Amy Winehouse
Burn Baby Burn – Ash
Die MF Die – Dope
Bat out of Hell – Meatloaf
Nothing Else Matters – Metallica
Silly Thing – S*x Pistols
Going Underground – The Jam

So, what would you choose? Let’s hear your music choices 🎶🎼🎵

And it’s not just traditional music people are turning from at funerals. Hearses are also changing.

Yesterday 27/07/26 I was privileged to conduct the marriage ceremony of this gorgeous couple. Nicola you were stunning and Gary so handsome in his kilt. The ceremony was full of emotion and love and I myself struggled during the vows and legal declarations.
It was great getting to know you both and meeting your gorgeous daughters Teigan and Paige too. They are a credit to you both. I hope you had a great time celebrating with your family and friends. Thanks for choosing me to be your celebrant. Much love to you all. x💕

Yesterday, Friday 26th July, I drove from Fife to Dumfries, a two and a half hour drive, to marry this gorgeous couple Sally and Stewart.

I had my leggings, shirt and cons on for the journey and was delighted to find the perfect room in the church where I changed into my suit and did my make up an hour before the ceremony was due to start.

Crichton Church looked amazing on this sunny day, flowers were gorgeous and the crowd was gathering outside to catch a glimpse of the wedding party.
Stewart and his best man, who was his dad Roddy, and his four groomsmen were all looking handsome in their kilts standing at the alter awaiting the bride.

Sally's mum Mary, two flower girls and page boy along with her four bridesmaids entered first and they were followed by Sally and her dad Stuart who were piped down the aisle.

After the hugs and handshakes, the ceremony which was filled with love, laughter, a few tears and the very excited golden retriever Frankie got under way.

Eilidh, Stewart's sister stepped forward to say a few words followed by the reading of the wonderful poem, "The Giraffe and the Monkey" by Daniel Thompson.

Stewart and Sally read their vows to each other which brought both tears and laughter from themselves and their guests. The ancient Celtic tradition of handfasting took place using binding to represent both families, the Ancient Hunting Tartan and a piece from Sally's gorgeous wedding dress.

Frankie, their golden retriever came bounding down the aisle to deliver the rings and he was immediately loved by all.

I enjoyed meeting with both Sally and Stewart, getting to know them and writing their ceremony. It really was a privilege.

My colleague Graham was in attendance, as at Celebrate People we believe in ongoing professional development and afterwards we discussed the ceremony over a coffee and I'm delighted to say that Graham gave me full marks and is even going to borrow a few ideas from me. This is what I love about our group, we believe in each other and doing the absolute best for our couples.

Would I drive for five hours to conduct another ceremony? Absolutely! It was an absolute joy and I wish Sally and Stewart all the happiness in life.

Had the absolute pleasure of conducting this gorgeous couples's marriage ceremony. Jonny and Alana you were a delight.
Handfasting using the Irish and Aberdeen tartans was wonderful and the laughter and ad libbing as the ceremony progressed was right up my street. Loved every second of your ceremony. Getting to know you both and meeting your families and guests I know you would have had a great night and made some wonderful memories. Loved that you asked the Harley Davidson biker, who just happened to drop into the hotel to see his daughter, for a loan of his bike for a photo opportunity. He told me his bike was the most photographed in Scotland. It really is a beauty.
Great getting to meet you both and I wish you all the happiness in life. Thanks for choosing me as your celebrant. x💕

Conducted the marriage ceremony of this beautiful couple Andy and Pauline. The sun was shining and everyone looked fabulous. Pauline and her daughters, who were bridesmaids, were simply stunning and Andy and his sons looked so handsome in their outfits.
Each of their children were involved in the handfasting which joined both families together.
The guests were so involved in the ceremony and there was much ad-libbing. I'm sure you all had a fabulous time celebrating. It was an absolute pleasure getting to know you both and hopefully we'll bump into each other again whether out walking the dogs or in our local shop. Crazy that we live in the same wee village and have never met before you booked me!
Thanks for trusting me with your ceremony, I loved every second. Wishing you both much luck, love and happiness. x💕

Jump on an aeroplane to New York City with her daughters for six days. It's not often we have the opportunity to holiday together.
Count your blessings everyone.
