Raw Food Return Policy

After receiving a 1 star review on Google and the person calling staff clueless we would like to discuss our raw food return policy and why.

We can not accept the return of raw food products. The reason for this is because its a perishable item which typically is an exemption of standard return rights. Raw food items deteriorate quickly and can not be re-sold due to health and safety regulations once they have left the stores custody and control. There is no automatic legal right if a customer simply changes their mind or their dog simply doesn't eat it.

If a company were to consider taking raw food back for any other reason other than it's spoiled, contaminated or unsafe to eat they would need to conduct a full hazard analysis and risk assessment to determine whether it could be safely handled or disposed of. Something that we can't do in store.

So just to be clear we can not accept the return of any raw food products unless it is found to be faulty, spoiled, contaminated or unsafe to eat or if it isn't what it says on the label, for example it's labelled lamb but is beef or if there was a recall from the manufacturer themselves. This is to ensure that the products that customers buy from our store are, to the best of our knowledge, safe for their pets to consume. There is no exception.

I think we can all agree that this review has been written through anger instead of letting the reasons explained in store of why we couldn't accept it digest and process the information properly before leaving a review that can have serious impacts on a local business. I think it is an unfair review and very inappropriate to call staff members clueless when you came in for our help advice and guidance. How would you feel if we sold you a food that another customer returned and your pup ended up seriously ill? It simply is not worth the risk for us as a company but more importantly not worth the risk of all our loyal customers Pets.

All of the staff at Vodabone are devastated at this news. Gary always had a smile on his face and chatted away when he popped in. Thoughts are with his family 💔

Gary Todd, 41yrs of kirkcaldy. died suddenly on Thursday 23rd Oct while on duty with the Scottish Ambulance service.
Gary (aka. Toddy or GT) was a much loved Son, Brother, Partner & Amazing friend to many.

He was a life long Raith Rovers supporter. Who brought love, friendship & laughter everywhere he went.
He will be hugely missed & never forgotten by all who knew & loved him.

On Saturday 1st November during the Raith v Morton game, We’d like to invite all fans at the match to join us in an applause during the 41st minute to respect & remember our fallen Rovers brother.
