I’ve been up to the field this morning and de-iced the lock so entry is no problem. However, the road up and down to the field is still very icy so please be very careful. If in doubt park at the top and walk down 🙏 the view once you’re here is amazing ❤️

Well after the rain yesterday and snow tomorrow, today feels like a wonderful moment of sunny calm between Peak weather.

Glossop Dog Field is just the best place to enjoy some enclosed solitude with your dog, or dogs if you’re lucky enough to have more than one ❤️

Once again the end of summer has crept up on us, we’ve enjoyed the extra daylight and the longer opening hours at the Glossop Dog Field. Now that we start heading into winter our opening hours are being reduced to 08:00-16:00.

It’s not all bad news at all, however, as we’ve decided to make sure safe off lead play is available to everyone by reducing our prices.

From today our new prices will be £7 for 30min and £11 for 60min dedicated use. On top of this all extra dog charges (up to a max of 6 dogs) will be removed. So now it’s even more affordable to share the time there with friends at no extra cost. Yes you read that right, 6 dogs in the field for an hour for £11 ❤️❤️

With all the beautiful weather we’ve been having of late the views from the enclosed field have been wonderful. It’s such a stunning place to relax with your dog while they are off lead, safe in the knowledge that the space is yours for the time. Just perfect for any timid or reactive dogs, or those that just like their own space, and of course it’s grand for those dogs that just like to bolt ❤️ If you’d like to book this calming space for your own dogs just drop us a message on FB prices start from just £6 for 30min of dedicated use.

Just going to put this on here, please, please stop using these horrendous chemicals on your dog 🙏

Numerous articles have been written in papers across the world, pleading with dog owners on behalf of their environmental agencies to stop letting dogs treated flea and tick treatments swim in rivers.

These chemicals are so powerful, so disruptive, that just one or drop drops on your dog days before can interfere greatly with the insect life in the river for some time.

Can you imagine?

Another source is washing the dogs and the stuff going down into the sewers.

There is no other conceivable source.

A 2020 research paper in the Science of the Total Environment Journal found fipronil (eg FRONTLINE) in 99% of samples taken across 20 river sites in England, with mean concentrations of fipronil and fipronil sulfone were 5.3 and 38.1 times their chronic toxicity limits. Amounts of Imidacloprid (in ADVANTAGE & SERESTO) exceeded the toxicity limit in 7/20 sample sites.

Dog Runners I want to hear from you!

I spend a lot of time running dogs on Kinder and Bleaklow through my sister business Mountain Miles. I’ve sold kit for Ruffwear for many years, and as I own a dog adventure company have used a hands free walking belt (as do all of our team members) made by the amazing company SASS, who had make their walking belts to order.

When it came to gearing up for running I DIY’d my setup. Using the walking belt, then either a combo of two ridgeline leads on a short Roamer, if I was running two dogs, or a long Roamer secured around me on the very thin waist strap if I’m running just one dog.

Over all the years customers have come to me for tailored fittings and advice on gear choice (I’m the same price as retail so it costs you nothing) I’ve had many chats about running with your pooches. And as much as I love Ruffwear harnesses (the amazing Flagline especially) and the leads and human gear they make I’ve always felt there should be a more comfortable option.

I’m also a holistic canine nutritionist specialising in sport and working dog nutrition, and last weekend I was away at Crufts working for a wonderful raw food company, before the halls opened on Sunday I was treated to a bag of Canicross equipment by a company with a great looking range of products.

This week I’ve been putting this kit through its paces. Well I’m not sure what to say except it’s an absolute game changer for me. It’s very comfortable, there’s no chaffing, plenty of room to see my feet, the gates are well made with huge breaking strain. I am impressed to say the least. They also make a range of running specific harnesses for dogs that look seriously well made.

My question to the runners, if I was stocking kit like this, and you could come try it on, see how it fitted, get some first hand experience and know-how about using it, would you be interested? I’m always a big fan of laying hands on things before I buy and there doesn’t seem to any local shops around where this is possible?

Anyway, very long post, but before I set up any sort of wholesale account I really want to hear your opinions.

There is something magical about dogs who are not usually able to be off lead running with total abandon ❤️ Ex racing greyhound Pip is an on lead only dog. So to see her stretching those legs is just the best

Just the right amount of ‘hill’ to really tire a dog out, and the wide open space gives them such freedom to run. It’s during this play that dogs really do the best bonding ❤️ forming great long lasting relationships
