A nice way to round off Christmas eve. Took the dogs I'm currently sitting out for a walk and saw floods of people heading into the square. Curiosity got the better of me, so I asked someone what was going on. Long story short... enjoyed a wonderful Christmas tractor parade 🤗 (Doggos were safely at home as I thought it would probably a bit loud for them).

Force free loose lead walking training with a working cocker spaniel. No figure 8 slip lead, no Halti, dogmatic or any other aversive device in play, just positive training. As well as our training classes ranging from puppy and adult beginner to IMDT Grade 1-6, Hoopers and trick training/concept training and socialisation classes, we also offer 1-2-1 training, training walks, dog walking and pet sitting. If you’re struggling to find time to attend classes or 1-2-1 training, we can train your dog without you present and supply videos and training notes.

We’ve just received a lovely Google review from Rolo’s owner who has completed three 1-2-1 sessions with us. Rolo is so smart and so quick to learn and her owners are clearly putting in the work in between sessions (very important whether you’re attending our courses or working 1-2-1). We really wish we had filmed today’s session when Rolo picked up “stay” to the point we could walk 15 metres away and then back again without her moving within approx ten minutes using only force free techniques. We will shortly be releasing dates for our summer workshops, including our Total Recall masterclass. Sorry we’re behind schedule on releasing dates but we’re inundated at the moment. The video is our puppy “Star” now 7 months old who we adopted from 8 Below Husky Rescue at 8 weeks old. This is her recall in a fair sized offlead area with other dogs around her. She was trained using the techniques we teach in our classes and workshops.

We’ve been away for 4 days at the 8 Below Husky Rescue camp in Leeds. It’s been a mixture of teaching workshops, selling heavily discounted dog products on our stall, spending time with our amazing dogs and catching up with people we only see a few times a year. At the 8 Below camp in Bakewell last August, we met an amazing but reactive boy called Ash. His owners are totally dedicated to his rehabilitation, despite being told by trainers and behaviourists that he should be put to sleep and/or they refused to work with him. We did a little bit of work with him at Bakewell, and left the owners with loads of advice and tips. Despite being based a two hour drive from us, they also brought him down for another 1-2-1 session with us, despite the long distance. We saw him again this weekend at the 8 Below camp in Leeds and will be seeing him again next week as well as at the Bakewell event in August. Ash has come on so much!!! He took part in our Intro to Canine Hoopers workshop, and our Loose Lead Walking Workshop with other dogs around, as well as having a couple of play sessions in the offlead area with our puppy Star and one of our stooge dogs, Luna. Really looking forward to seeing his further progress, we just wish they lived closer so we could work with him every week. His owners are an absolute credit to Ash who had an awful start in life, but they’ve put in so much work and never given up on him. It’s dogs like Ash who made us want to do what we do!

Our current Introduction to Hoopers pups are doing incredibly well!! Today we worked on our waits, duration, adding a bit of distance and we introduced the tunnel!!! There's a few more weeks to go, then they get the chance to join our combined group of past graduates where we work on different techniques and courses.
