Victoria Vets At Victoria Veterinary Centre our aim is to provide the highest standard of care for all pets and their owners.
(86)

All our staff take pride in treating every animal as if it were their own. It is important to everyone that our clients trust the work done here and are comfortable with the 'bedside manner' and the services offered. We believe that clients (both patients and owners) value seeing familiar faces. Whenever possible, we will arrange that your pet is seen by the same vet each visit to ensure continuit

y of service. All our veterinary and nursing staff work as a team to maintain the highest standards of care at all times, so there will always be a dedicated person available to provide any treatment your pet needs.

**Star Pet Of The Month**
We have great pleasure in awarding lovely Aggie Phillips our Pet Star of the Month for June 2024.
Aggie was diagnosed with Lymphoma in July 2023. Aggie went through a course of chemotherapy and finally went into remission.
Unfortunately, in April 2024 the Lymphoma came back and now Aggie is visiting us on a weekly basis for chemo.
Aggie is always so happy to see us, even helping the nurses out with their paper work. We feel that her humans also deserve a cheer for everything they do for her. Well done guys πŸ₯‚βοΈβοΈβοΈπŸΎ

New laws have been published this week for vets in the U.K. and how they prescribe medications

Much of it is what we do already but if you are in the profession I can highly recommend reading this blog from Vet Help Direct which sets out the changes very clearly.

If you are a pet owner, the most important thing to note is that it will now become a criminal offence, potentially punishable by jail time, if a vet advises you to purchase human medication for your animals.

There is often some heated debate over vets prescribing, or dispensing prescriptions for, human medications and the cost difference between them and the over-the-counter versions, but it is absolutely vital to understand that we have to do it this way to remain within the law and the ensure your pet receives a safe, effective dose and receives exactly the right type of treatment.

I appreciate it can be frustrating but please don’t blame your local vet!

Does anyone recognise me?

Young female tortie.
Has been seen around Earnshaw street, Hollingworth area since 9th May.
She’s wearing a grey flea collar, has a fairly recent spay wound but no chip can be found.

She is currently being fostered by finder who is happy to bring her back to the practice if we can find her owner.

If this is your cat please contact us on 01457 852 367

Is your cat microchipped yet?
Compulsory microchipping comes into force on 10th June 2024.
Kittens will need to be microchipped by the time they are 20 weeks old.
Please note that if your cat isn't microchipped by 10th June, you have 21 days to get it done or risk a fine up to £500😯
Don't forget that you can get a free microchip on our Health Care Plan.
Please give us a call with any queriesπŸˆβ€β¬›πŸΎ

** Star Pet of the Month **
We would like to announce our first Star Pet of the month for May, Polly Hodgkinson ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Polly was diagnosed with glaucoma in January 2024. Her human Angie had to give her eye drops daily but unfortunately, the pressure in her eyes became too great and on 12th April, Polly had to have both her eyes removed.
Polly rose to the challenge, is still loving life and always wagging her tail. She is an absolute star!! Well done Polly and well done Angie too 🀩🐢🐾

**Help needed to find owner**
On 30th April 2024 a Husky x German - Shepherd dog was brought into us at Glossop. He was found on a lay by near Black Clough on Woodhead. He was found deceased. He has a Bulgarian microchip but it is not registered.
We are seeking his owner to advise that we can unfortunately only keep him here until next week. Please could you share! Thanks so much πŸ₯²πŸΎ
