Hartpury Equine International Events Welcome to the home of Hartpury's major international equestrian events

06/03/2025

Members of our equine team are in London today for the 33rd National Equine Forum - a prestigious conference that brings together influential members of the equine industry, experts and government to debate pertinent topical issues and discuss current research and innovation. It also provides a useful networking opportunity for leaders of the industry.

It was great to see our very own Professor of Equine Science, Prof. Meriel Moore-Colyer delivering her presentation earlier, titled 'Finding the best forage for your horse'. She explained the importance of assessing the types of forage you're feeding to your horse, and the effects on the horse's gut microbiome when feeding soaked or steamed forage.

Another great example of how staff and students are contributing to important industry research and conversations.

We also fully endorse and encourage snowman building! ⛄️

Hard to believe that in just 6 months time we’ll be crowning the 2025 Bramham Champions in this arena ❄️

In the meantime, do you think we should make a snowman?

We're enjoying watching Hartpury alum Lewis Carrier competing at The London International Horse Show this week.

We'll also be following his journey over the coming year and beyond, as he targets the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games that'll be here before we know it!

72%+ and a new PB for Diego in the World Cup at 🎉🤩

So pleased to cap off the year with our best score to date and a 7th place, with couple of the judges awarding us nearly 74%! Diego was feeling rather hot and on the whole we managed to channel it into some lovely work. Always areas to work on but chuffed with the result and feeling we had today.

A huge thank you to LIHS, and for hosting such an epic show and class. Riding at London is a very special experience 🙏🏼

We love following the success of our Equine Academy members throughout the winter season, and it's been good to see event rider and BSc (Hons) Equestrian Sports Science student Georgina Beeby Wynn getting plenty of show jumping practice in ahead of the 2025 season.

"Eclipse" has been on top form the first half of the indoor season, winning three 1.20m classes in the past few weeks at Hartpury and Chard, as well as enjoying multiple top placings at 1.30m - finishing 2nd at Bury Farm, 3rd at Hartpury and 4th at Chard.

Congratulations to Georgina and Eclipse and keep up the great work 🥳

18/10/2024

Great to see Natalie Folland, a Hartpury University BSc (Hons) Equine Science alumna, enjoying success at the Tattersalls sales yesterday.

The Folland-Bowen team sold their Too Darn Hot filly to Godolphin for a staggering 460,000gns, following the sale of a Sea The Stars c**t for 550,000gns.

It's always great to follow the success of our brilliant students even after they leave us 🤩

In the blink of an eye, summer is over and a new autumn term has begun here at Hartpury!

However, we're still reflecting on an epic summer of equestrian events, and are very proud of the feedback we received from riders at the NAF Five Star International Hartpury Horse Trials that featured the British Eventing Championships 😎

Thank you to NAF, British Eventing Official, Aston Martin Bristol, Fairfax Saddles, Baileys Horse Feeds, Hazlewoods, Westons Shires , British Eventing Support Trust and many other partners for their ongoing support of our summer of equestrian sport.

Good luck to those combinations headed to the Defender Burghley Horse Trials this week!

This is why you should always have the NAF Five Star Hartpury Festival of Dressage in your diary each year! We’re lucky enough to have a huge number of championship horses and riders competing each year, using the event as part of their preparation.

Good luck to all horses and riders today competing in Paris 🇫🇷

We're loving watching the action from Paris 2024, particularly given that so many of the combinations used our NAF Five Star Hartpury Festival of Dressage as their preparation!

In particular, we're loving seeing the success of Team GB British Equestrian. However, we're also supporting Hartpury University and Equine Academy student Jessica McKenna who is competing for Team Ireland.

Equine Director Phillip Cheetham is out in Paris too, working as part of the team of FEI stewards.

The game is afoot, and the medal hunt is on! 🕵️

A total of 76 athletes from 30 nations will assemble for four days of competition from today until Saturday, September 7. 🌍

With Paris 2024 medals up for grabs from day one, the competition will be fierce from the first to last centreline. 🥇

Congratulations to New Zealand's Tim Price (Team Price) and Vitali, winners of the Hartpury University and College British Open Championship 2024 🤩🥳

Congratulations also go to Emily King and Valmy Biats who become National Champions as the highest-placed British combination 🇬🇧

A huge well done to Kitty King Eventing and Vendredi Biats on their third-placed finish. Was it really seven years ago that this combination won the CCI4*S (CIC3* as it was formerly known) here at Hartpury?!

Martin Clunes, Chancellor of Hartpury University and Hartpury College, had a blast handing out the trophies and rosettes at our prize giving, before a ride around the International Arena courtesy of Westons Cider and their lovely horses.
