Animals at Home

Animals at Home The UK's Long-Established Animal Care Company. Pet, animal care and pet transport services via professional pet carer franchised branches.

Dog walking, pet care, cat visits, dog boarding, pet taxi and animal ambulances. Welcome from Ann and Iain, co-managing directors. Animals at home is a pet care franchise company formed in 2003 to provide first class animal care services from franchised branches throughout the UK. Branches are small businesses owned by a pet carer franchisee. New franchisees receive industry-leading start-up, trai

ning, mentoring and ongoing support: from before they become an operational pet carer and right through their franchisee career. Animals at Home is owned by co-managing directors. Ann has vast experience in sales and franchising co-ordination, business and franchise start-up and new business owner mentoring; as well as being the former general manager of Animals at Home. Iain had early careers in military and civilian law enforcement but joined the company as a franchisee only two years after it was established. He later joined the management team as a trainer / mentor to new franchisees but that soon developed in to becoming the training, support and compliance manager. Iain still owns a very successful branch. Ann and Iain purchased the company in 2019 on the retirement of the founding directors. Their huge experience in the franchise industry and pet care industry with current 'hands-on' work, training, support and professional development means Animals at Home continues to grow and develop, and remains the premier animal care franchise company for the UK. StreetVet fully supported by our fleet of Animal Ambulances, and proud to do so.

Can you imagine being told that you can't come in out of the cold because you have your beloved pet by your side?

Can you imagine being told you must choose between unconditional love or having a roof over your head? These are the choices that doesn't think people experiencing with their pets should face.

We are thrilled to share that we have partnered with MSD Animal Health as part of our parasite prevention campaign.

Having an option to protect a StreetVet canine patient for 12 months from fleas and ticks will help remove one of the obstacles to hostels not accepting residents with pets.

A big thank you to the team at Consett Canicross who chose to support Street Paws at their most recent trail run- it looks like a muddy time was had by all. We really appreciate the support in our community to both raise vital funds and to spread the word abut the work that we do.

The UK is home to 13 million dogs, four million higher than previously thought, new research reveals.

Analysis from Dogs Trust, who joined forces with scientists from the Universities of Leeds and Exeter to combine and analyse data from 18 sources, reveals that 83% of the UK’s dogs are located in England.

In comparison, 9.1% are in Scotland, 5.8% are in Wales, and 2.1% are located in Northern Ireland.

Breaking the numbers down by region, the researchers found that Telford tops the list, with 8.2 dogs per 20 people.

This is followed by Darlington (8 per 20 people), Harrogate (7.4), Swansea (7.4), Llandrindod Wells (7.2), and Sunderland (7.2).

In contrast, Londoners are the least likely to own a dog. East London has just one dog per 20 people, followed by West Central London (1.2), West London (1.4), South West London (1.4), and North London (1.4).

Dr Kirsten McMillan, Deputy Head of Research at Dogs Trust, said: “The UK is well known for being a nation of dog lovers, but it turns out we may have significantly underestimated how many dogs are out there by over four million.”

She added: “This inaccuracy can have serious implications as it affects important statistics like how many dogs of different breeds or sizes live in certain regions, how the dog population grows each year, and the overall trends in dog ownership.”

The spread of dogs by breed could be addressed in future studies, the researchers said.
