https://www.animalsearchuk.co.uk/case/lost/292403/
Last seen in Alexander Drive, Cirencester on Monday 25th around 8pm... it's very unlike her to go missing for any amount of time and we're missing her desperately.
We've been knocked on neighbours doors, put up posters and posted flyers around the neighbourhood but are still anxiously waiting her return.
Thank you
This cat has been missing for 2 days. Description: Reenie is quite small, but has relatively large ears. She is predominantly of darker colours, except for a while bib and belly and white markings on her feet (more so on her hind legs)

This is simple but great for cats when in the garden. Umbrella and covering on top to keep your cat cool. I also put a bowl of water underneath and change it regularly as it can get warm. My cat loves it.

Afternoon all, hope your Sunday is going well. Let’s talk Look before you lock 🔓
Cats are curious creatures that like to investigate their surroundings. They cannot resist to have a nose around and it is easy for you not to notice them. I’m guilty of this. Quiet and nippy aren’t they? Please check all sheds, garages and outbuildings before locking them up.
I would encourage you to give items a rattle that are under cover when storing away. Rattle objects as well as cats can get into the smallest of places. All this could save your cats life or someone else’s cat. I will also say to check the greenhouse. This is where our cat tends to go for a look round and the greenhouse could be easily forgotten. Take care of yourselves and your cats. 🐈⬛🔓

Hi everyone, lets talk Harvest mites also know as Autumn mites. I only just heard about them today having taken our cat to the vets as an emergency appointment earlier on. The harvest mite is a mite the larval stage of which causes considerable discomfort to cats during the late summer and autumn (June - November the vet told me). The mites can cause irritation causing the cat to scratch, bite and lick which may result in extensive self-inflicted injury. The skin lesions vary from crusted spots to areas of fur loss to raw moist bleeding areas (which is what our cat had). The mites look like orange dots. Please be aware, this is not to scare you but I thought my cat was scratching until the point of bleeding until I noticed the area of concern had got bigger. Thankfully treatment is available.

CATS AND HEAT STROKE
Signs of Heat Stroke
Early signs of heat stroke may be subtle, and it’s important to know what’s normal for your cat. If gone untreated, heat stroke may lead to collapse or even death. Signs to look out for include:
Panting
A dark red tongue
Very pale or dark red gums
Sticky or dry gums
Lethargy
Weakness or wobbling
Vomiting and/or diarrhea
Difficulty breathing and collapse
Seizures
Loss of consciousness
Causes of Heat Stroke
A cat’s normal body temperature is 100.4 to 102.5°F. Temperatures over 103°F should raise concerns for a potential problem.
One of the most common causes of heat stroke in cats is being trapped in a hot, enclosed space. Never leave your cat in a car or poorly ventilated kennel during warm weather. A vehicle, even with the windows cracked, can increase in temperature by 20 degrees in as little as 10 minutes!
Short-nosed (brachycephalic) breeds are particularly susceptible to heat stroke. The flattening and shortening of the facial bones and upper airway cause increased airway resistance. This may lead to severe respiratory problems during times of heat stress. Overweight cats, kittens, those with long, thick fur, or underlying illness such as heart or respiratory disease, are also at increased risk of heat stroke.
HOW TO PREVENT HEAT STROKE
You can help your cat avoid exposure to extreme temperatures by furnishing a temperature-controlled environment (if indoors) or providing shade (if outdoors).
Make sure your indoor cat can move around as freely as possible and has access to cool, well-ventilated areas.
Older cats and kittens are often more sensitive to heat. Always keep an extra eye on them during hot days.
When it’s warm, set out extra bowls of fresh water. For cats that prefer to drink running water, drinking fountains are an excellent alternative.
Never leave a cat alone in a car when it’s hot outside, even if you’re only away for a short time.
What Can You Do at Home to Help Your Cat?
If your cat shows signs of heat stroke, it’s important to act quickly!
Move your cat to a cool, quiet area
Offer fresh water to drink. Alternatively, a small syringe can be used to put drops of water on the cat’s tongue. Do not force the cat to drink a large volume of water or force a syringe into its mouth.
Actively cool the cat by wetting her fur and paws, but do not submerge her head in water.
Cold wet towels can be placed on the stomach, armpits and paw pads. Refresh them frequently.
Take the cat’s re**al temperature every five minutes, if it is safe to do so, until the temperature is at or below 102.5°F.
Mild heat stroke may not require further treatment, but you should always consult your veterinarian for advice.
If your cat is in distress or collapsed, he must be taken to the veterinary clinic right away.
Important: never give anti-inflammatory or any other medication to a cat without consulting your veterinarian.
Treatment of Heat Stroke
In severe cases of heat stroke, rapid veterinary treatment is required - every minute counts!
Call the vet to alert them that you’re on the way.
On the way to the clinic, continue to cool your cat, if possible. Use a cold wet towel on her body and offer plenty of fresh cold water to drink.

WAYS TO KEEP YOUR CAT HYDRATED
To prevent your cat from getting dehydrated, encouraging them to drink water is key. Here are some ways to get your cat to drink more water:
Avoid plastic bowls. In the heat, these can taint the taste of the water. Use glass, ceramic or metal instead
Place water bowls away from food bowls. Cats don’t like to drink in the same place that they eat
Make sure the water bowl is large, with a big surface area too
Keep the water topped up so your cat doesn’t have to put their head into the bowl, and to make sure your cat isn’t left without any water at all
Many cats prefer running water, so try offering a cat fountain
Putting water bowls in different places around the house will help cats always find somewhere to drink
If your feed your cat tinned food, small amounts of water can be mixed into the food, which will increase fluid intake.

KEEP YOUR CAT SAFE FROM THE SUN
Many cats love soaking up the sunshine, choosing the warmest spots in the garden to enjoy. Make sure you take precautions to avoid your cat getting dehydrated or sunburnt. Overexposure can lead to skin cancer.
Provide plenty of shade both inside and out. From sheltered plant pots to cardboard boxes, these items offer makeshift sunshades for outdoor-loving moggies. Think about planting shrubs or using cat hides and boxes in the garden. These help your cat hide away from the sun’s potentially harmful rays.
If your cat has white fur, try keeping them inside between 10am and 3pm, when the sun is at its hottest. Speak to a vet about suitable sunscreen for cats, to ensure they don’t suffer from sunburn.

KEEPING YOUR CAT COOL
Keeping your cat cool inside your home is important too. Place fans around the house to keep the air circulating, remembering not to point the fan directly at your cat.
Another handy tip is to freeze a bottle of water, wrap it in a towel or pillowcase and place it somewhere your cat goes regularly. This stops them from feeling overheated during hotter spells. Remember to ensure that your cat can get away from the bottle if they chose to, and make sure the bottle does not leak!
SHOULD I USE SUNCREAM ON CAT
For cats most at risk, such as white cats or cats with thin or no hair, the answer is yes. Applying sun cream to vulnerable areas will offer protection and help prevent sun damage.
When choosing a sunscreen for your cat, use one specifically for pets and, if in doubt, speak to your vet for a recommendation. When applying, focus on your cat’s nose, tips of the ears, belly and groin areas as well as anywhere that has thin to no fur.
It is important when choosing a sun cream to avoid ingredients like zinc oxide and a group of chemicals that are referred to as salicylates. Repeated exposure to zinc oxide on the skin could lead to zinc toxicity, which can damage red blood cells, and it could also cause a stomach upset or allergic reaction if ingested. If eaten in large amounts, it could even cause stomach ulcers or liver problems, although this is rare.
Salicylates are products in the same category as aspirin, and cats are particularly susceptible to salicylate toxicity. Don’t forget to keep an eye on your own skincare products – keep them far out of paws’ reach!
