What an amazing group of children! Horrible weather yesterday afternoon, but our group of riders loved their last session. They have all grown so much in confidence and ability and having the opportunity to ride in the countryside so close to home. Huge thanks to Marita and her team. The sun finally made an appearance as it set as we made our way back to the stables! โค๏ธ

Lovely day with our younger volunteers and local children yesterday. We reused and recycled to create bird feeders; Sameera (Friendship Cafe) showed us how to make Mexican god's eyes and we made Smores which were very popular!

Lots of smiles, despite the cold, when we took children riding yesterday. Thanks to Marita and her team at Cotwold Trail Riding for teaching them how to groom, lead and ride ponies as well as overcoming nerves for some of them. Looking forward to the next session!

No animals on site at the moment but this is a very important message...
A brief New Year's Message from our Rural, Wildlife and Heritage Crime Team:
Animals don't want to enter 2025 with a bang! ๐
Livestock and horses can be really frightened by fireworks and panic can cause significant injuries or even death. Please stay safe and use fireworks responsibly - if you are having a display, it would be very kind to let your neighbours, nearby liveries, farmers and horse owners know so they can make the best decision as to how to keep their animals as happy as possible. ๐ ๐ฎ ๐ด
Don't forget that domestic pets are frequently stressed by home firework displays so keep your own furry friends, warm and safe. ๐ ๐ถ
For the welfare and safety of all animals in our county, please consider visiting an organised event instead of having fireworks at home.
If you do use fireworks please dispose of remains responsibly to prevent harm to animals and damage to the environment.๐ณ โป๏ธ
Help keep Gloucestershire's animals safe - and Happy New Year!

The smiles say it all! Almost 30 local children took up a fantastic opportunity to take part in pony riding sessions at Cotswold Trail Riding.
A storm on their first visit didn't dampen their spirits, and the children learnt new skills, made new friends and went home with a certificate.
Look out for new dates in January!

And these 'big kids' had fun too - never too old to play! Though Aoife should have been banned for driving while using a phone! ๐
This cheeky kid was fun to watch on our trip!
Farm volunteer Ahmad Tizini is one step closer to achieving his dream job as he's been accepted onto a Foundation course leading to a Level 2 apprenticeship in Racehorse Care.
Ahmad is currently on the Riding A Dream Acadamy Scholarship programme and studying for A levels at Chosen Hill School. He will spend 18 weeks at the British Racing School then 18 months gaining experience at the famous Kim Bailey racing yard in the Cotswolds. Congratulations from us all Ahmad, look forward to seeing you soon! ๐ (video supplied - not the best sound quality sadly).
Take a look! Ahmad features in this report on earlier today. Really proud of his progress in the Riding A Dream Academy. Go Ahmad! ๐
"Come visit the St James City Farm & Riding School and experience a whole new side of Gloucester. Get hands on with the animals and have a taste of the countryside"
CAUTION! Pregnant women should avoid contact with sheep and other livestock
If you wish to feed any animals, please ask a volunteer or the staff member on duty. We may have food that you can feed them with or they may already have been fed. (Sorry, because of the Animal Health regulations, we canโt feed them leftovers from kitchens!)
