I have research wild parrots diets, we often make the mistake of giving them human foods, which are technically safe but not natural and can cause all sorts of health issues.

My advice is purely based on species specific requirements and not knowledge that’s been peddled out by breeders and vets with no avian knowledge.

Not all parrots will eat and forage the same, key learning on each species in the wild will help them thrive in captivity.

We've teamed up with Hayley from Feather Tail Parrot Rescue and her blue & gold macaw basil, me and Aries my Catalina macaw have made a delicious chop topper for all your fussy macaws needs!

Diet is one of the most misunderstood things in the bird keeping world, often parrots are fed on a poor seed diet.

Our chop topper is here to help any fussy eaters and sun flower seed lovers get onto a healthy chop diet, or as a extra healthy snack for your bird to enjoy their chop more.

What do wild macaws naturally eat? Wild macaws feed in the treetops and eat a variety of seeds, nuts, fruits, berries, leaves, and other vegetation. They require a higher level of fat than many other bird species and consume more nuts as part of their diet in the wild.

Macaws get their proteins from eating insects like grasshoppers, beetles, cockroaches and snails.

Also clay, Yes, you heard it right, Macaws do eat clay! This is usually seen in exposed river banks of nature reserves, where hundreds of macaws gather daily to lick clay, this chop topper will include clay!
