Not many photos to show for it but we’ve had a fun 1/2 term- and the first few days even brought us some sunshine ☀️
On Tuesday we had a great Pony Club afternoon in the sunshine, with 11 of our Centre members enjoying an afternoon of grooming, riding, making feeds, and helping deliver the feed & haylage to the ponies at the end of the day.
Everyone worked really well as a team and they all earned their Sequence of Footfalls mini achievement badge, along with either a Test or Progressive Award.
Great work everyone 🎉
We hope to run another one of these sessions in the Easter holidays.
The rest of the week included lessons, online dressage test prep & riding, a polework clinic, me assessing some lovely riders in the New Forest (thank goodness for indoor schools as it was a cold, wet day!), a spa afternoon and celebrating LOTS of family birthdays with the help of yet another yummy food board from the wonderful .tea.fairy 🧚‍♀️
Other pics are of the lovely state of Noodles after a few days of rain & mud 🫣 and Louie & Percy the cats doing what they do best- finding random places to get comfy

🎉We are super excited and proud to have all our approvals boards up on display!

🐴 Greenways Stables is now approved by …. How cool is that?!
🐴This also means that we are now able to offer the fantastic Changing Lives Through Horses, an Equine Facilitated Learning programme which enables young people to develop key skills and use our wonderful horses and ponies to help them with the Key Stage 1 & 2 curriculum.
It’s a really exciting time for us to be able to open up more opportunities to make learning more accessible, inclusive and FUN!

I watched this video the other day and it was a really good one that opened up a lot of questions and discussions around mental health.
We hope that our "Time to Talk" evening on Friday will give everyone a chance to discuss any worries, concerns, experiences freely with their friends but we also have a dedicated Safeguarding Officer who is always available for those who need to talk in private and in a safe space.

💙 This , we’re encouraging everyone to take a moment to check in on the wellbeing of young equestrians.

Understanding how to keep young people safe while at the yard or out at equestrian events is an important part of helping them feel comfortable and confident.

We can all work together to support young people’s mental wellbeing by being aware of safeguarding risks and signs of abuse or mistreatment,

An interesting article on the cost of riding lessons…

🥶Brrrr it’s chilly out here today.
⚠️Unfortunately our arena is frozen and there is no sun today to get it thawed out- therefore it is unsafe to ride on so we have had to make the decision to cancel lessons.

📲All clients will be contacted about this and those who were due to ride today will be given a stable card to use.
We have some availability for private lessons on Monday (6th) should anyone wish to reschedule for then.

ABOUT US

Greenways Stables is an ABRS (Association of British Riding Schools) and Pony Club Approved Centre. We are also an Approved Training Centre for KEITS (www.keits.co.uk), and offer Apprenticeships in Horse Care for dedicated, motivated and enthusiastic individuals wishing to pursue a career in the equine industry. We have a 100% success rate so far with all our students and members taking both leisure and professional exams.

We have 13 horses and ponies, ranging from the very small (11hh) to the very tall (17.3hh) and many in between. All our horses and ponies are carefully selected to match the requirements of their riders, and they are all inspected during our annual license check, for which we have recently been awarded 5* - the highest rating possible!

OUR LICENSE IS ISSUED BY GUILDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL. REFERENCE NO. AWRL047

We are dedicated to providing friendly, professional tuition in horse riding and stable management, and love seeing our clients enjoy the activities we offer, whether it is a hack in the countryside, or a happy face at the end of a Pony Morning. There is something for everyone- we cater for both adults and children. Childrens’s lessons start at 6 years old; walkouts on the leading rein can be arranged for 4-6 year olds.
