Spring is a great time of year full of colour and warmth (hopefully!) but these bring with it hazards for our pets. Keep an eye out for our spring hazard posts over the next few weeks.

With the weather set to get warmer over the next few days be aware of adders who might be basking in the warm sunshine. They aren't usually aggressive but will bite if provoked.

Symptoms are swelling at the bite site, lethargy and collapse

If you notice any of these symptoms and you suspect your dog has been bitten by an adder keep them calm and phone your vets straight away.

You can help your pet to stay safe by keeping your dog on a lead when on a walk to avoid them surprising the sleepy adders.

Our wonderful Lead Vet Susannah is running a half marathon in support for one of our colleagues ❤️

Meet Libby our new Veterinary Surgeon who will be covering Godalming and Chiddingfold surgeries.

Libby graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2024, where she spent her first few months in a busy first opinion practice. She also studied Zoology at Royal Holloway prior to this. Throughout her studies she’s worked in the veterinary profession as a receptionist and a nursing assistant at a busy out of hour practice.

Libby has a keen interest in emergency critical care, inpatient care as well as soft tissue surgery. She hopes to delve into avian medicine in time.

Outside of work she enjoys going on new dog walks with her husband and whippet, Harvey, as well as running or going to the gym to burn off those sweet treats. She also cares for two conures, Zoey and Gwen, as well as Michelle the tortoise.

Meet Mark our Clinical Director

Mark graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 1992 and started his career in mixed practice down in the South West of England.

A fanatical rugby player/coach and traveller, Mark went to Africa in 1995 and stayed overseas for 20 years, working throughout Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Japan before returning to the UK in 2016.

Mark has treated a very wide range of animals ranging from snakes to tigers and has lectured globally on veterinary medicine, nutrition and leadership.

Mark is our Clinical Director and lives locally with his wife and two sons and Toffee, his 9 year-old Vizsla. When not working, he enjoys watching rugby, playing golf (badly), rewilding his garden and socialising.
