Meet Saba... she visited us at our Woodside Clinic today as she had a sore and weepy eye after getting something in it on her walk yesterday. She was super good and our vet Melanie was able to examine her eye and determine that she needed some eye drops to soothe her eye.

Meet the staff pets!

Today we meet Luna who owns our lovely vet Melanie. Luna is a 9 year old domestic short-haired cat.

She likes:

🐾 her spot (this is everywhere)

🐾 feeding time (This is anytime. Particularly at night)

🐾 scritches (NOT THERE)

Dislikes:

🐾 people in her spot (people anywhere)

Although Alabama rot is very rare it's important to know the symptoms. It's prevalent at this time of year and washing your dog after a muddy walk can help.

Our receptionist Jan at Woodside Surgery owned a lovely dog called Syd, she was only 1 year old when she passed away from Alabama rot 7 years ago. It's so rare that no-other dog in her area suffered, even the dogs Syd frequently walked and played with.

If you notice any of these signs you should seek advice from one of our veterinary team...

🐾 Skin lesions, or sores on the skin

🐾 Extreme tiredness

🐾 Loss of appetite

🐾 Vomiting

Meet Doug who you'll often see if you go to our Chiddingfold branch. He was adopted by James our Vet Nurse at Woodside dog! This is what James has to say about his beloved angel Doug....

'Doug was an acquisition from a Veterinary Clinic I worked in. He was taken to the out of hours service after being thrown from a moving vehicle. It was love at first sight, although I only planned to look after him just for the weekend we became inseparable and I couldn't let anyone else have him.

Sadly the accident caused some problems with his front legs. Over the last two years he has had extensive surgeries with specialist vets but has taken it all in his stride.

He truly is magical and the best friend a man could have.'

Meet James, our new Veterinary Nurse at our Woodside Clinic in Chiddingfold

James started his career over 30 years ago as a Saturday boy at a veterinary clinic in Haslemere. This is where he went on to qualify as a Registered Veterinary Nurse. He then went on to travel around the world, working in New Zealand and California gaining a wealth of experience before coming back to the UK at the end of 2007.

James then settled and worked in a number of clinics around Guildford and Godalming, where he gained further qualifications in anaesthesia and emergency and critical care and worked as an Emergency and Critical Care RVN before joining us in November 2024.

He has one dog called Douglas, who is a crazy “Bitza”, consisting of springer spaniel, beagle, basset and Rottweiler! But he is 200% gorgeous!

James looks forward to meeting you all and furry friends!
