Its been another busy week for our staff but we have all been enjoying some spring sunshine!
Some of the horses have enjoyed a bit of hacking with staff, and others have had clips / tidy ups, or even done some ground work.
Fingers crossed for some continued sunny weather!

𝐀𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 - 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟏𝟐.𝟎𝟎 - 𝟏.𝟎𝟎
Fortnightly on a Monday we have space in our adults walk, trot, canter group riding lesson. This is 1hr and £30 per person.

Riders must be confident in walk and trot loose and have some canter experience and be 12st or under. Lessons run fortnightly on a Monday, with the next one falling on Monday 10th March followed by 24th March etc.

𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓.
Due to the frequent cost increases we as a business are experiencing, as of 1st April 2025 our prices will be changing.

The costs that have risen are as usual, hay, feed, farriery, vets and all other associated costs that contribute to keeping our horse’s welfare as a top priority. We know that our customers care as deeply about horse welfare as we do, as a BHS highly commended welfare centre.

As we are sure you are already aware, all businesses are having to weather business cost increases due to the raise in NMW, National insurance etc. All of which contribute to our annual overhead costs.

We realise that everyone will be feeling the impact of price increases across the board, so to help where we can, we are keeping our weekday discount offer at the same price, and we have also introduced a new weekday offer for semi-private lessons. If you are currently in a private lesson at peak time and would like to pair up with another similar rider, please let us know and we will do our best to find a suitable fit for you.

We would like to take the time to thank all our customers for their wonderful support and understanding over the year and we look forward to helping you through your riding journey in 2025.

⭐️Andrew's Pony Stars⭐️
Pony stars runs once a month on a Sunday 9.30 - 11.30 or 12.00 - 2.00 with Andrew. £35 per rider.

Sessions cover different aspects of horse and pony care, covering the BHS pony stars syllabus. Children will learn things about ponies, such as breeds, behaviour, grooming etc followed by a fun group ride.
Pony stars is suitable for children who ride with us aged 4 -13yrs.
Ask your instructor about Pony stars - they are happy to help!

We have had a busy week this half term!
All the horses have enjoyed some additional schooling by staff, either being ridden or lunged. Some horses have had another clip, we've had the dentist and the vet. We have had BHS stage 1 and Stage 2 courses, learning about tacking up, and preparing horses to travel. Along with own a pony mornings and plenty of lessons, we are ready for bed 🤣.

Wanted – Self-employed groom to come in one morning a week (Fridays). You must be experienced, confident working independently to a high standard, and reliable.

Current jobs are:
- 7 internal stables (6 straw, 1 shavings)
- 4 field shelter stables (straw)
- Associated hay nets and waters.

The yard is compact and close to the muck trailer. The work does change throughout the season (e.g. more poo picking in summer/less stables).

The Pandemic of the Riding Hat

We’ve spoken before about the dangers of unlicensed riding schools, lame horses, and poor standards in the industry. But today, we need to talk about something even more serious: unsafe riding hats.

Historically, our biggest concern was second-hand helmets—riders unknowingly using hats with hidden damage that could fail in a fall. We understand that good riding hats are expensive, and budgets are tight. But you, or your child, only have one head.

Now, an even bigger threat is creeping in: cheap, unregulated, unsafe helmets sold online, particularly on . A quick Google search for a riding hat? The top three results lead you straight to substandard helmets available for next-day delivery.

How do I know they’re unsafe? Yesterday, a client proudly brought in a brand-new riding hat, gifted by a well-meaning family member. At first glance, it had the right labels, but the more I inspected, the clearer it became—it wasn’t up to standard. It was the Louise Vitton of fakes.

Now, accidentally buying a counterfeit handbag is one thing. But Amazon wouldn’t allow that, so why the hell are they allowing the sale of fake child safety equipment?

This particular helmet:
❌ Didn’t fit correctly
❌ Practically crumbled under light pressure
❌ Claimed to meet CE standards—but clearly didn’t

This is life and death. Riding is dangerous enough without riders unknowingly strapping a piece of plastic masquerading as protection onto their heads. Someone is going to get seriously hurt—or worse.

So who is responsible?
❌ The family member who thought they were doing the right thing?
❌ The instructor who didn’t check?
❌ Or profiting off the sale of a £19.65 death trap on Prime?

Parents, riders, instructors—please, be vigilant. If a hat seems too cheap to be true, it probably is. Always buy from trusted equestrian retailers with a qualified hat fitter and check safety certifications with experts. Your head is worth more than a bargain.
