The benefits of teaching a solid heel & break.
Control when needed, but fun when wanted 😎 🙌
🔥 C O N F I D E N C E B U I L D I N G 💪
Can your dog problem solve, or do they panic in new situations? Real puppy/dog socialisation is not meeting every dog and person you possibly can - it’s about exposing your dog to new and unknown experiences.
Take a look at my own floof Hunter in this video below 👇
At first, he can’t manage the slide. But he knows he’s been given a command to come up. So what does he do? He searches for another alternative and just look how he works it out 🤩
I love this so much because I can almost see the moment he realises the ladder is there 👌
The next time you’re out and about with your dog and you pass a kids play park (empty of course!) - have a go! What can they do? And what can you build on?

Oscars recall progress 💪
💡 Long-Lines 👇
Let’s talk long lines! Another tool that you should definitely have in your doggy training toolbox 🧰
Do you unclip the lead and lose all control, but still want them to get some space and freedom? Is perfect recall still a dream? ☁️
Long line is the tool for you! Unless your dog has perfect recall, and I mean they turn on a dime regardless and come back to you, then they simply should not be offlead.
Here is my adorable client Oscar practising some recall 💪 All you need is your long line and whatever your dog works for, be it a tasty treat 🧀 or a ball 🎾.
Oscars recall wasn’t good before we met and mum was anxious to let him off as he would blow her off and not listen to commands. We paired the long line with his favourite 🍗 and look how well he’s doing 🤩 👏

Oscars place training
🦴 Oscar ✨
This wee guy has a whole lot of energy and is just a bundle of love! 🥰 The problem is, Oscar loves his mum so much that he isn’t keen to let her go anywhere without him 🥺
When his mum got in touch we knew that we needed to put a solid routine in place to be able to tackle his extreme separation anxiety 🐾
Before 👈 - Oscar would climb all over mum whilst she worked from home, wasn’t keen to spend time in his bed and didn’t know a place command. He was terrified of his crate and screamed the house down 🤷♀️
After 👉 - Less than a week later, Oscar knows his place (mum has chosen the word “bed”) and is happy to trot off into his crate - goodbye 👋 fear! It’s a work in progress but just look at this guy go! 💥
We put together a solid plan for Oscar and his mum is absolutely smashing his training 💪🔥
Watch out for updates on this guy, he’s gonna do great things 🤩
If you need a hand with your pup, you know what to do 💌 🐾
Reya 💜 really getting the hang of these thresholds these days! 👌
This command has saved her life recently as she has taught herself how to open doors 🚪
When I nipped out to the van for something on Sunday I had closed my living room door but not the front door. I turned back to see these three waiting patiently to be released out the door! So why not load them into the van and use it as a practice session?!
Threshold commands are so important - it can stop your dog running away, being hit by a car or potentially upsetting a pedestrian or child who’s passing by!
So proud of little lady and all that she’s learned in such a short space, she’s still only 7 months old! 🔥
If you need some help with your dog learning thresholds, you know what to do 📥 💬
Distance stays and recall work today 🐾
A bit of distance recall work for my pack today.
The boys have been well able for this for a while now - but Reya at nearly 7 months is trying for the first time.
She hasn’t nailed a down stay, but she did sit and stay with them 😉
This pack is on fire 🤩🔥🔥🔥💪
Training time!
📣 Puppy diaries! 📔
- Baby shark edition 🦈 -
So recently Reya has been a pirhana puppy 🦷 I needed to do something as I found myself constantly chasing her down for oven gloves, tea towels, the odd shoe, my hair and even my bra strap has had a chomp! 🙄 Of course - it’s my own fault - not hers! 🤦♀️
Due to working and being tired, I wasn’t giving her nearly enough structure. I let her boost about of her own accord and needless to say, actually spent more time tracking her down or telling her no.
I haven’t been committing enough time ⏰ to her in the evenings. And consequently, too much free time has allowed her to learn bad habits ❌
So we are now on a new routine and it looks like this:
- crate to nap 😴
- straight outside for toilet 🚽
- 10/15 mins training 🎯
- 10/15 mins structure play (ball/tug/chase flirt pole) 🎾
- 10 mins free play - usually picks to wrestle with Hunter 🦈
- Crate to nap
- Repeat til bedtime!!
Much more simple. Here’s a wee video of a new trick she learned tonight - paw! 🐾
She’s such a clever girl and I want to make sure she reaches her full potential 💪 💜
Thresholds 🚪 🚗
Does your pup run the minute your front door opens? As soon as you open the car boot? If you said yes, threshold training is the one you need to work on! 👌
Teaching your dogs that they don’t get to cross boundaries before they are calm and settled will help get your next adventure off to the right start! 🏔
It also means your takeaway delivery driver won’t get accosted at the door 🍕 😝
Granny is no longer knocked off her feet by excited jumpy pups! 🐕
Start as you mean to go on with either a wait or a down stay 👇.
Here’s my two boys, teaching baby Reya the ropes! 🙌
