Maine C***s are designed for colder climates with thick double coats and feet tufts. As you can see he’s gone and got very wet on this morning garden visit.
He’s not bothered in the slightest and his skin is dry. I am bothered! Wet long hair cats are never good because it mats.
I’ve managed to towel dry him (I’m not to do anything still!). Then he’ll be combed out to prevent mats starting at the skin level.
Longhair cats are a huge every day commitment. My naughty boy knew that I couldn’t catch him!

This is a hard message to post. My heart is literally breaking.
Sadly we had to say forever goodbye to our Bruce Friday night.
He'd been his normal self up to Tuesday but my other two cats were sniffing him and sitting with him every day.
He'd had a drip Tuesday for fluids and to flush out the toxins his body couldn't do himself. They were willing to teach me subcutaneous fluid injections if he improved but sadly he didn't.
My vets have been amazing, caring and kind to both us and Brucey. They went above and beyond. It was very peaceful.
He was so loved and cherished to the last and he was so good, ever grateful and never stopped cuddling in.
We held each other the last 3 1/2 years, the last 2 being my most testing and he was always there with a paw and a purr. Love your cats with everything you have 💗

I finally was able to have second vaccination and haven’t had any reaction at all.
I’m so relieved as I was so I’ll with Covid in July and it’s taken months to recover.

I’ve had a bit of good news this week re my health. There’s a bit to do but I at least feel more positive about getting there.
I am going to try and do a video (with a few coughs most probably!) to explain.
Also next week I am going to ask everyone to move across to a new page. I’ll give instructions.
I’m literally having to start over and loose my flipping reviews rating!! Very annoying 🤬
At least I can see light ahead which I admit I was loosing hope of.
I’ve been juggling 3 issues that have sort of separated so I can start treating/ do something and get better. Some I need to accept and manage long term.
I so appreciate the kind messages that you have been sending. I feel like I’m hiding in a cave and you’re keeping me boosted.
It’s been one hell of a year and a half for everyone!!

Hello lovely people.
I’m so sorry to say I’m struggling with progress. It’s slow!
After lots of tests I am waiting to see chest and lung consultant end of October.
I am praying that they can help find the root of cause for my cough and breathing issues.
I realise people are wondering if I will get back but I’m thinking positive I will.
Some issues have begun to ease so that’s good.
Please be patient with me and a shout out for our veterinarian staff who are flooded and run ragged. Be kind, there’s 4.5 million new pets in the system since lockdowns.

So our wonderful vet Konrad descaled Mr Bruce teeth Saturday on Gabapentin.
He’d been lip licking which can be nausea from his kidney disease or pain. Teeth are really common areas of pain for cats. It affects mood and behaviours.
He can’t have anaesthesia due to Chronic Kidney Disease.
So it was “Old School “ manual descale after a Gabapentin dose the night before and again 2 hours before.
He was so good and not distressed at all. He hasn’t lip licked since or rubbed his paws on his face since his teeth were done. So it may not be nausea.
This is why I recommend 6 months check ups for our cats. It’s kept all my cats fit and healthy even those of mine with health conditions…

Hi lovely people,
And so my health saga goes on🙈. My lung is healing so clearly caused by Covid. However my other struggle isn’t resolved so I’ve had more tests, so a little more waiting.
Frustrating for you and me I can assure you.
However I’m not sitting here doing nothing. I’ve took on a new course!
Dermatology in grooming to better work with difficult skin issues and choose appropriate products and procedures. So I’m always adding to your cats grooming session and care. Always learning more.
And! A new page is being built with some help but sadly it means I loose my 5 star rating based on your lovely reviews 😔
So I’ll post when and how to find it when ready and I hope if you have given me a review in the past, you’ll copy and paste into my new one and get my reputation put back up there!
With my struggle with my health since Covid , please take care still and stay safe. I’m not allowed my second vaccination yet so I need to be vigilant and careful. Think of the vulnerable and remember Covid isn’t over or gone…

So I have had to have more X-rays yesterday due to left lung and continued breathing issues…
I’m exhausted physically and mentally.
I so want to be back working but my body ain’t doing it!!
So I remain closed and hope these X-rays bring a better pathway of treatment for ongoing health issues.
I knew Covid was bad but I didn’t think it would take this toll. Goodness knows how more vulnerable people are feeling.
Continue good practices people because the longer term effects are a bigger issue.

Sadly as you know I got I Covid on July 11th.
Despite not being infectious now, I’m having a slow and problematic recovery due to my asthma and a pre-existing condition. My muscles, joints and breathing are being effected by the Covid.
I have a mark on my left lung that wasn't there in June on chest X-ray at asthma check up.
I’m going to give myself an extra couple of weeks to recover on my Dr advice. My chest X-ray will be repeated.
I’m really sorry, we tried so hard not to pickup Covid. I know where I got it and it wasn’t through my work.
I would love to be back grooming your cats but for once I need to put my health first. I’m finding this really difficult.
I am answering messages with advice but please email only.

So….
Still no response from The Facebook Machine so you are relying on my Instagram link posting this if you are reading on Facebook . Pretty crap really if I’m honest!!
I’m also feeling pretty crap myself and Covid is as bad as they say, so do everything that you can not to get it. I’m told I’m unlucky as I didn’t even mix outside my bubble. I’m struggling to breathe properly still.
I found out Friday from chest X-ray that my left lung has an issue, probably caused by Covid compared to one in June when my asthma checked. They can’t tell until I’m a few more weeks in. It’s not treatable by antibiotics because Covid is viral not bacterial.
So a wait and see game. Bit like the bloody Facebook thing excuse my French!
So I will give Facebook August but if no response or help I will start a new page!
In the meantime I will be practicing rest, good healthy food and healing to get back to caring for all my lovely cats.

I am also sad to tell you that I became Covid positive and hospitalised due to my asthma. I haven’t mixed with anyone and I know my bubble source of infection.
Please continue extreme caution despite the lifting of restrictions by government. That’s my Advice from Drs. Hubby is double vaccinated and Covid negative. We were told PCR testing is only sure method of testing as I’d had 3 clear lateral flow tests until hospital visit.
See you all in the future. I’ll inform you if I have to set up a new page 😡

Sadly I am having no luck accessing Facebook or Facebook Messenger.
I have reported it to Facebook , I have had help from a tech person but sadly it is a case of sit and wait for Facebook automated machine to investigate.

Being self employed, (since I was 19!) as a hairdresser for 22 years and now as cat groomer, has its benefits.
But the last year has been tough on us all. Delayed vaccination, welfare cases, hand injury with surgery and now a hacked account that prevents me accessing for business.
Just sometimes it’s hard to find the energy to get positive.
Universe give us all a break please. It’s time it got easier please 🙏

Hi, My name is Sonia and I have always loved cats! I never imagined that I would become a Professional Master Cat Groomer in my life! I was a hairdresser for 22 years running my own business, became a Mum and helped run a gym alongside my husband doing health and nutrition as well as a Holistic Therapy Room. So caring was always in everything I did and Cats have been my constant at home from the age of four. I moved to the North East 19 years ago and lasted 4 months without a cat and he is still alive and well about to touch the age of 19!
The big fluffy guy you see in the pictures is Mr Jinx, a character, very vocal with a timer for his stomach and thinks he’s James Bond, leaping off the landing 3 stories up! He keeps us amused as a family. However he had one trait not so favourable and that's the “Floof” as many call it. He leaves it where ever he lies, chairs, your clothes and up your nose if you get close enough...
So I started looking for a Professional Cat Groomer after somebody told me they existed! I struggled to find a Cat only salon where he’d feel safe and happy, he’s my Furr Baby and I couldn't bear the idea of leaving him anywhere. Long story short, I found my best option was a 3 day Cat workshop ran by Svetlana Broussova, a Russian Vet in London. I organised my family and off I did trot back to London where I was presented with a huge Persian male cat to begin learning handling and whispering techniques. Svetlana insists if you cannot do this part, you have no ability to understand the cat and he or she will not respond to you in the way you want him or her to.
I literally felt so relaxed and like I had been meant to do this. The 3 days flew, were tough as there was a lot to learn and that should have been that. However I wanted to know more, I wanted to not leave the cats! Svetlana is a woman of honesty and would tell me straight if I was not a natural but she said the opposite, that if I worked hard and completed the courses back to back to get maximum practice in she felt I could go to Master Cat Groomer. This is a level to deal with the most difficult cases including matting, shaving and Lion cuts.
I was not sure about Lion cuts but she explained it is designed to the cats anatomy to safely remove dead matted hair where the skin cannot breathe and irritations begin. It was not about the cat looking like a lion, it was about shaving limits and health of the cat. All this was done without having to administer an anaesthetic. Persians, Maine C***s etc all look amazing and feel better after this and bathing. Yes bathing cats is fine if you are trained to do it, the most unlikely actually are well behaved with us groomers!
I worked hard and decided it was time for me (and the cats) to enjoy life. I’d given most of my career to helping others, now I help cats and I get a huge sense of well being and happiness from it. They say if life gives you Lemons, make Lemonade. I was given a longhair cat and made a business out of doing what I love. What could be better than spending the day doing what you love, from dry bath grooms, to wet baths to the transformational Lion cuts.
