Soon I’ll be spaying my own dog Jelly. She will be around 2yrs 2months. Under 2.5 years lowers the risk of mammary cancer. I have allowed her to develop skeletally, sexually, and mentally. So now is the right time.

IF I left her entire I’d need to monitor for both mammary cancer (50% is malignant/nasty) and of course pyometra - pus in the womb. But neutering can also increase the risk of other cancers so balance and understanding of what to expect is important.

IF you keep you girl entire you NEED to be aware of this. Because it can be a killer if not treated ❤️

Today I am grateful NOT to be working in clinic. No not to enjoy the sunshine, but to be away from the devastation that heatstroke still causes despite multiple warnings. I am grateful not to be battling to save lives, and witnessing unnecessary deaths of wonderful dogs who would have quite happily missed a walk today.

To all my veterinary colleagues, I just hope you do not have to see too many tragedies today. Sending lots of love and healing as it’s part of our job which should no longer be part of our job and has a huge negative mental impact.

KEEP THOSE DOGS IN THE COOL, AT HOME!

Elliott and Magda work tirelessly to rescue and rehome as many bunnies as they can aswell as caring for their permanent sanctuary buns with special needs. They are the loveliest humans and deserve all the help they can get 🧡 If you are thinking of getting a rescue bunny or pair they have lots looking for homes and can help with bonding too!
