Sadly due to bad weather tomorrow the Wickham market has been cancelled 😞

Honestly this weather has been a nightmare for small business’s this year!

Was so looking forward to my last market of the year too! As I won’t be able to have a stall I will be doing deliveries in Wickham tomorrow instead!

Toxic foods for your dogs to avoid this Christmas!

Below are the main food items to keep away from your pets over the holidays.

🥧 Mince pies contain raisins which are highly toxic to dogs, causes GI upset and in some cases can lead to kidney failure.

🦴 Cooked bones are a danger to your dogs for if ingested can splinter and cause blockages, this goes for all cooked bones, roasted and dried.

🧅 Onions contain a compound called N-propyl disulphide, which affects the red blood cells in a dogs body.

🧀 Blue cheese contains mould, which if ingested is toxic for dogs. Can cause vomiting and sickness.

🧁 Christmas cake, containing raisins and sultanas and often soaked in alcohol these are both not good for your dogs.

🍫 Chocolate is one to watch as this will be around a lot this time of year! Dark chocolate is the main one to look out for. The higher the cacao content the more toxic it’ll be.

🍾 Dogs are unable metabolize alcohol and can cause lethargy, respiratory issues and is one to be avoided.

🍬 Xylitol or birch sugar is a common sugar substitute that can be toxic to dogs. Found in sugar-free chewing gum, toothpaste, mouthwash, vitamin supplements, a small handful of peanut butter brands and other 'low sugar' or sugar-free products.

If your worried on concerned about your dogs having consumed any of these you can call the dog poison hotline on: 01202 50 9000 who are open 24 hours a day, they do charge but could save you a trip to the vets!

Holidays can be stressful for all of us including our pets!
