Meet our Orchid mantis Mrs Miyagi! She’s settling in with us nicely and is growing quickly. Mantis shed their skin as they grow, they come out of it like taking off a onesie! Have any of you ever seen such a perfect shed?

In the midst of the chaos of moving house, it just occurred to us that we never introduced our newest animal. So with that said…

Meet Gaia! She is a boa constrictor and while she’s only a small baby now, she will grow to be anywhere between 7 and 12ft!

Introducing two more sticks! We picked these guys up this week and they have settled nicely into their tub with our other sticks. They’re very active and fun to handle! Just look at the size of them compared to our junior keeper’s hand and arm!

Our junior keeper had the mammoth task of cleaning lots of our creepy crawlies tanks yesterday and then redoing all of them with lots of fresh substrate, leaves, food, enrichment etc for the inhabitants of each tank! It took a lot of time, effort and thought and I think it’s safe to say she did an amazing job and we have some very happy creatures as a result! What do you guys think of the fresh tanks?

Bubbles came out and about with us the other day! We paid a visit to our local exotics shop for some reptile food (and maybe another creature or two… or 20).
We also went to the Grandparents for the afternoon which Bubbles enjoyed so much he fell asleep on the sofa and then moved onto my lap and settled to sleep again.
We did all this with no box, carrier or restraint on him, he showed us what we already knew, that he has an incredible temperment and personality!

Our rescue dog Caci and Bubbles are becoming firm friends now he is on her level! Just look at the mess they’ve made of the glass doors! They love sleeping next to each other! From sworn enemies to unlikely friends!

This is Bubbles settling into his new home! We still have some decorating to do but he is absolutely loving life in there at the moment! We do have a few ideas up our sleeves but if anyone has any thoughts on what they think Bubbles might like in his new home, let us know and we will definitely consider things!
To put his enclosure size into perspective, our junior keeper and our retriever dog can both fit in the enclosure with ease!

We surprised Bubbles, our amazing bearded dragon, with a new enclosure last weekend! The one he was in before was perfectly fine for him to spend his life in, but we found a much bigger one and thought he deserved it! Why live in a house when you can live in a castle?!
His new home is actually so big, it wouldn’t fit through our doors so he is no longer in our reptiles room either!
Here you can see Bubbles very carefully supervising his house move, making sure all his “furniture” was put exactly where he wanted it!
He is all moved in now and it’s safe to say he loves it and is living like a king!

He's going to be catching up the Beans in no time if he doesn't slow down!

We had some new baby sticks join our gang yesterday after unfortunately losing Stick one. To turn a negative into a more positive day we got them a brand new big tank and fresh plants for them all to enjoy! We’ve counted 13 in total including our other original Stick two and they have all been named by our junior keeper… there are some interesting name choices for sure 😂

We have:
The big one (stick two)- Lewis (he’s fast and moody).
1- Babu Frick (he’s small like the Star Wars dude).
2- Bob the builder (just Bob to his friends).
3- Catherine (not Cathy, she doesn’t like that).
4- Brian (he’s smart but sarcastic).
5- Pete (he looks like a Pete).
6- Junior (might just be a stick).
7- Sindy the stick (mean stick).
8- Silly the stick (falls a lot).
9- Sandy the stick (just a happy to be here kind of stick).
10- Stick the insect (he’s forgetful).
11- Carl (looks like a zombie stick).
12- Amy (she’s tank manager, everyone goes to her).

Our super star junior keeper showing everyone at the fair how amazing our animals are at being handled! Totally independently and unguided, she can handle all our animals herself and she helps us ensure all animals are used to being handled by children.

Chips is a (not so giant) Giant African Land Snail! We believe he is albino so will look a lot like his AB brother, Beans when he’s bigger!

Don’t worry about the colour of the apple, his home is heated so things like apple will look less fresh quicker but they’re still perfectly fine for him to eat 😊🐌
