As we are now in full swing of winter, you may find your horse is having to be stabled more due to the adverse weather conditions. Sports Massage is an excellent way of increasing circulation therefore a huge benefit throughout these winter months.

With a little spare time in the afternoon I decided to get my new clippers out and give them a little test drive… clipper spam to come later on! ✂️

The pelvic tilt exercise;
Fantastic method to initiate the contraction of major and minor core muscles. Pelvic tilts are also great for horses showing signs or soreness/stiffness in their pelvic, sacral or lumbar region.
Helps to strengthen;
- Abdominal muscle
- Hip flexors
- thoracic sling
This exercise will also increase;
- Thoracic-Lumbar spine flexion
- Pelvic mobility
- Hindlimb mobility
Belly lifts;
Another fantastic method to help strengthen the abdominal muscles in any horse. If done frequently, this can help improve your horse’s ability to support his spine and to work in a round, balanced frame. This exercise also encourages a nice stretch along the spine.

Yawning … the ultimate release and here little Magic shows a perfect example of this. I hung back after treating so I could assess Magic’s behaviour after a thorough massage, whilst there were signs of release during treatment, it wasn’t until after that she was able to really process what we had done and let go of all her built up tension. So rewarding ♥️
