This week it's Licenced Home Boarders Awareness week.

The week has been created by The Pet Directory Services in order to help owners increase their awareness of what to look for when finding some one to look after their dog whilst on holiday.

Homeboarders are becoming increasingly popular across the canine community with more owners opting for this type of care for their dog whilst they are away instead of the traditional boarding kennel environment.

What a lot of people are not aware is that anyone offering this type of service whether from a commercial premises or home premises they are required under the Animal Boarding Establishment Act 1963 to be licenced by the local authority to offer this service if being paid.

All licenced homeboarders have to meet a strict criteria before a licence can be issued to them. Failure to not be licenced means you are putting your dog at risk and if something happens any insurance would be invalid.
