So today (4th Jan) is National Fat Cat Day!

Whether your cat is skinny, or fat, or just the right weight we love them all.

There seems to be a trend for people to feed other peoples cats that wonder in to their garden and in more extreme cases almost adopt/take ownership of the cat without checking that they actually belong to someone.

If it is your cat that seems to be gaining weight because they are eating away from home then it might be worth investing in a do not feed me collar, or a tag with your details on.

Another thing to remember is that they should be microchipped (sorry its the law now!) so if you are the person that has a regular cat visiting you it might be worth taking them to the vets to be scanned for a microchip to check that they are local or if they have strayed way to far from home and a family that might be missing them.

Are you going out for the day over this festive period? Why not challenge your cats natural instincts to hunt and forage for entertainment.

1) hide the treats/dreamies. Rather than just popping them in a bowl scatter them around the area your cat has access to and at various heights

2) play some music for the cat

3) switch up the toys, top up the catnip in toys
